I been on vacation for a few months and just visited my local dealer. They told me festool finally after all these years have admitted to the Kapex having motor issues! He then said they have fixed the issue yet he informed me that nothings being done for users with the affected saws!

No trade up deal
No recall
No extended warranty
No discounted pricing on updated saw
Nothing

Basically tough luck joe. The same kind of response I have had with all my issues.

I could rant on for hours about the disgusting way festool treats it’s customer base. I have a lot of their tools and over the years had issues and they were never dealt with the way I expected them to be with the price I’m paying and this just confirms why I no longer buy anything made by them and won’t ever again. I have about 10+ open complaints with them about numerous issues and they say they will look into it and never do.

Hey [member=101]Festool USA[/member] The idea of a trade up deal has real potential.  I'm trying to think whether it would be in your financial interest, though.  There are doubtless plenty of Kapex owners -- not the ones who have actually experienced a problem but simply ones, like myself, who are a bit spooked about all the stories and holding our breath whether the next cut will be the one to burn up the engine in smoke -- who would jump at the chance to upgrade.  Then I thought that Festool would stand to lose money with all these old Kapexes flooding the secondary market, which non-Kapex owners would snatch up for a hefty discount rather than buying into the new model.  But then I realized that Festool could take care of this problem by making the deal a true trade-in, say, $500 off if you bring in your old Kapex.  That would take all the older ones off the market, and simultaneously help reduce the supply of ones that might still go kaput before their natural life-span.  I smell a combo money-making and brand-laundering opportunity!  How about it?  Because let's face it, the sentiments expressed by [member=8101]BCConstruction[/member] are not isolated.
