Upgrade the Track Saw Track to the LR32 with Shelf Holes for only 5$

Hello,

I just placed my order for my first Festool - The TS 55 REQ, after doing much research. I would like to share something that I stumbled across for others who may purchase a Festool track saw. When you order a Festool track saw you can upgrade the 55" track to the 55" track with holes for drilling shelf pins for only $5!

[welcome] to The FOG, Dusty Beer,

Please understand that exchanging guide rails when purchasing the TS55, TS55R or the TS75 is entirely at the discretion of the dealer. Many but hardly all dealers will make the swap.

So, do tell us which Festool dust extractor you selected with your TS55R, to combine for the discount? Or, did you decide to combine your TS55R with an MFT/3 set? Then if you were to combine your CT dust extractor with another Festool, that would qualify for a discount.

Lots of us decide to purchase 1 or 2 additional guide rails with our first track saw. For example, if you couple two of the 1400mm rails together, those will easily rip the 8' length of a sheet of material so long as you use a TS55. (Using the TS75 you would need to combine a 1400mm and a 1900mm rail.) If you want a maximum of efficiency breaking down 4x8' sheet material then you need a third guide rail so that you can make cross cuts without uncoupling the long rail. Many of us use the third rail as the straight edge to ensure we couple the other two rails accurately.

Should you buy two of the 1400mm Holy rails, then they can be coupled and the holes correctly spaced with Festool accessories. Please note that the rail connectors are packaged and sold as units of one, so you need to buy two of those. The LR32 connectors are sold as a set of 2.

I ordered the TS-55 REQ, an extra 55" rail and two of the standard rail attachments. I got both rails with the shelf pin holes just in case I need this in the future. I thought about the MFT/3 but decided against it. I'm guessing my American Sanders CAV 12 HEPA Vac is up to the task of a dust extractor. It won't have the auto turn on, but I can live with that.

Up front I admit I am not familiar with the American Sanders CAV 12 HEPA vac. Many shop vacs use the International Standard hose connection receptacle which Festool terms '50mm'. What will become important is having hoses with functional equivalents of the Festool 27mm and 36mm tool ends.

The track saws, the Festool OF1400 and OF2200 and the Domino do not care if the suction is more than minimum. However, Festool sanders need to be connected to a dust extractor with a suction volume control. The auto start can be helpful, but my experience is that is more appropriate with Festool sanders. I prefer to power non-sanders separately from the dust extractor so that I can decide how long in advance of a task I start the extractor and how long after the task I let it run.

Many of us prefer to use the Festool 36mm anti-static (AS) hose with the track saws. The larger hose improves dust collection and we find the larger and stiffer hose hangs up less on the guide rails. My custom cabinet business is located in a relatively low humidity and high static climate, so I only buy AS hoses in all three sizes. However, people in more humid areas say they prefer the non-AS hone. If your existing vac does not provide a grounded connection to the hose, as do the Festool CTs, then it would be pointless to by AS hoses.

When you do decide to get the LR32 equipment, the complete kit includes the LF32 connectors which also serve as the end stops. If you do not buy the kit, they are sold at a reasonable price.

can some more dealers clarify this?

i'm thinking about selling my ts55 and getting the ts55r with a 1900mm rail. would it be possible to upgrade to the holy rails in this case?

Sure, a bunch of us do this; I'm only one of them.

I swap rails regularly.

I also try to advise people to make the swap for the LR 32 rail. Sometimes it doesn't make sense but generally, it does.

Of course Festool only offers the 1400mm (55") and 2424mm (95") Holy rails, which complicates the swap for the 75" standard rail of a TS75.

So you can package the TS with the MFT correct? 10% discount off retail? Is that how it works?

Question is, can you package a router with the MFT3?

The package deal is 10% off either the price of the MFT or the price of the CT, whichever is in the package. The 10% doesn't include the power tool.

So if I get a 1010, I can get 10% off an MFT? Yeah dumb question, just making sure I am understanding this correctly.

I'm not Tom but Festool essentially has 2 types of discounts - package deals.
If you buy a tool (except jigsaws) and a CT, you get 10% off the price of the ct.
If you buy a TS 55 or 75 and an MFT you get 10% off the price of the MFT/3
If you a kapex and the MFT/3 kapex you get the 10% off the MFT/3 kapex

Thanks Bob! So basically I am out of luck..I have a CT but really should get an MFT3, and I am budgeted to get a 1010 now. Was trying to find a reason to pull the trigger on the MFT at the same time. I could get the TS instead, but the TS was further down my list after a router since I have a table saw.

That MFT is very necessary as I have discovered recently. Sometimes I wish I never met Festool. .It's vicious circle for me that wont' end until I have all of it. TS, Domino, router, another CT. Sigh..I think dealers could be very successful if they provided counseling as an accessory.

So I can work more-
So I can get more money-
So I can buy more Festools-
So I can work more...........sigh

And don't you suggest Festools Anonymous!
