Upgrading from TS55 to TS75

I have had TS55 for years and I am completely satisfied with it.  My business is growing and I am breaking down more sheet goods on a regular basis, particularly melamine.  The TS55 works great but after 5-10 sheets it is getting very hot and it feels like it starts "skipping".  Would upgrading to the TS75 help in solving these issues and be a little more of a work horse for me?

I have all of the saws and the TS75 has more power for sure. But, has this always been the case or a more recent development? If recent, maybe it is worn brushes?

The TS75 is heavier to lift on an off all day - it was my only track saw for years, but I enjoy the 55 and its weight. Another option is to consider the cordless - that version to me does not lack power and it in between weight-wise. OTOH, you need at least one other set of batteries if you want all day cutting performance - but I really like my TSC. It would probably be the one I kept out of all of them if I could only have one. YMMV.

Melamine is hard for the blade of your saw and dulls it very quickly. Make sure you use the proper laminate blade instead of the standard one, and it will cut melamine twice as easy.

The TS55 should have zero issues cutting melamine. How hot is it getting? Too hot to touch? Have you checked the condition of the brushes?

I have both saws and the TS75 to me a specialty saw only used on thick wood, or in my CMS module as a tablesaw.

Seems to me a growing cabinet shop should have a sliding table saw.

I think Alex has it.

Generally in woodworking when a saw/blade performs poorly the blade is simply dirty.
Cutting melamine doesn’t gum up the blade much.
Seeing a clean blade might cause you to blame the saw when the problem might be a dull or inappropriate blade.

With a good blade and appropriate feed rate the TS55 shouldn’t get too hot.
I wouldn’t move to the TS75 unless you will need to cut much thicker stuff fairly often.

new blade or sharpen the old one? I do have a blade cleaner CMT formula 2050? Get yourself a spare blade. If your breaking down sheet goods , drop down to a lower tooth count, that might help.
