Matthew has installed a new feature called URL Popup. When you use the Insert Hyperlink button to insert a hyperlink it will prompt you for a readable name for your link. It uses a very friendly popup that allows you to enter the desired information easily and quickly, and then formats it to the correct HTML.
So, let's say you're creating a message and you want to add a Hyperlink. You click the Insert HyperLink button (Second Row, Third from Left):
Then the Explorer User Prompt dialog pops up and asks, "Please enter URL address" :
Let's say that you want to add a link to the Festool USA Home Page. You enter the Festool USA URL:
Then click "OK" and the Explorer User Prompt pops up and asks, "Please Enter URL Name" :
You enter a nice text description:
Then click OK. If you want the link itself to appear, hit "OK" without typing any text in the "Please Enter URL Name" prompt.
Now you see your URL pasted into your message text in proper format. It looks like this:
When you finish your message and click "Post", you're URL looks like this: Festool USA Home Page instead of a raw URL like this:http://www.festoolusa.com.
Nice? I think so. Perfect? Well, there may be a small fly in the ointment...
If you are using IE7, you may have your browser set up so that it displays a warning message like this:
You have two options...
The first option is to right click the warning message and select "Temporarily Allow Scripted Windows":
This works nicely, but you have to keep doing it.
The second option is to permanently get rid of the message by modifying your security settings. Assuming that you feel comfortable doing this:
1) In IE7, select Tools -> Internet Options.
2) Click the "Security" tab.
3) In the "Select a zone..." make sure that "Internet" is selected.
4) Click the "Custom Level..." button in the lower right.
5) Scroll down to the "Scripting" item, and then to "Allow websites to prompt for information useing scripted windows".
6) Click Enable.
