Use H-class filter in CTL/M 26

Ok, so im planning to renovate an old house and want to buy a Festool ctl 26 for this purpose.

Im not sure what I want to use the ctl for in the future. Who knows. To future proof my purchase, would it be possible to buy the filter of the cth 26 separately and putting this into my ctl 26?

I dont want to buy the cth 26 outright. Thus, my question.

The H class filter will fit no problems if that is what you are wondering? Having said that, the L and H class filters are spec'd the same, in Australia at least. Also, putting a H class filter into a L class machine will not make it H class. The H class machine has a flow alarm to warn of potential hazards as per M class as well as double walled bags for added safety when using hazardous materials.

Any particular reason why you are looking at the H class setup? If you are looking at extracting anything containing asbestos of bacteria/pathogens don't cheap out and just get the H class vac straight up. If you're just after the best possible filtration and not extracting hazardous materials, get the L class with HEPA filter and be happy.

There are scenarios when you want the H-class safety but do not need the H-Class certification.

In that case buying (another) vac just for that is stupid as the only thing making a real difference are the filters + bags.

I got M-class, just in case I wanted to ever use it commercially. But not for safety. A hobby user who does care about his own health has no use for the alarm. It is trivial to observe if your dust collection is working or not so the alarm is a non-issue. The only scenario I would consider it useful is if my kid was doing something and I wanted to give him a simple guidance to ensure he does not inhale crap too much without needing to understand when dust collection is not working as it should.

Where the alarm is useful is if you are a commercial operation - it gives you get-out-of-jail card if any of your employees develops a work-induced respiratory problems etc. etc.

It also has the rare practical advantage in those specialist operations where the vac is already not keeping up and you want to know when it is not keeping up "too much". But as DYI you should never get yourself into such a situation. If you do, use a respirator instead and do not rely on a vac to save your day (still use the vac of course too).

That is strange, in Europe there are:

496170 and 203759 (for AC function) filters for CTL/CTM series
SELFCLEAN SC FIS-CT (496187) is the normal bag 5-pack for CTL/CTM 26 vacs

The only difference CTL versus CTM is the flow sensor with alarm.

But for H class, there is both a dedicated microfilter and the safety bag you mentioned. No AC HP filter option as H class cannot be achieved with just the main filter.

FIS-CTH 26 (497541) is the safety bags 3-pack for CTH 26 vacs

IMO, for hobby use, the best is to get CTM 26 AC + CT-VA to go along. It has the flow sensor, it has AC option and it can be used as CTH if filters and bags are swapped for DYI usage.

I currently have my CTM 36 setup for 2 scenarios
- bag + normal filter + cyclone for woodwork
- AC + HP filter for plaster and general dry walls work

And am planning to get a H-class bags + filter when I come across a need for it.
