I was looking at buying a used ct22,  not sure what a good price would be?  Does not have a hose garage.  I know they cost around $340 new.  Any help would be great.  Thanks

It probably depends on how well used it is and what condition it's in.

I've only used the hose garage on the CT Mini. While it's nice for storing the hose if you have to constantly carry the Vacuum around, the extra weight of the CT22 might not make it as convenient an addition. Purchasing a Systainer to store the hose in might be just as convenient.

$200 is slightly more than the cost of a new Stainless Shop-Vac from Shop-Vac's higher quality line, and the Festool is probably a better vacuum with a larger variety of special attachments available. It might be better to think of the price in terms of what a new CT 26 costs rather than what the older model used to cost. Then figure that the vacuum is used and doesn't have a warranty.

The $200 dollars doesn't seem so bad if it comes with the standard accessories that would have come with the vacuum. It's basically the cost of two Home Depot shop vacs.

If you do buy an older CT model there are a few things to consider.

I don't believe the older vacs are certified for the new EPA requirements for use when doing commercial work in older buildings that might contain lead paint. This might be a major concern if you're doing commercial work since the fines can be high.

You may want to thoroughly check the filters to see whether they're the Hepa version, and still in good condition, since this is something that separates the CT vacuums from other shop vacuums.

It may be a fair price depending on what you want it for and its condition. It is at least 3-4 years old since that is when the current model CTs were introduced. It won't have HEPA filters unless they have been added retrospectively (I think). If you intend to use it with a boom arm the hose garage is unimportant. I would check the hose condition as they can be quite abused. Also check the condition of the filters. New hose and filters would make even $200 not such an attractive price for me.

If it is in good shape, go for it. I use my CT22 almost every day. It's 7-8 years old and in terrific condition. Well worth $200. In fact someone offered me C$450 for mine just over a year ago. The recent recon sale will have changed everything with regard to used prices but nonetheless, $200 still seems ok.

Like others have said, the CT 22 is an awesome machine provides its in good condition!  Anything around the $200 price range is a deal in my opinion!

When I bought my firstCT22 in January 2006 they came with HEPA filters as part of the system.

The CT26 and CT36 were introduced in NA in the fall of 2010. I had just opened my new large shop. Since 2006 I had bought more CT22 new so I only needed to stock one size bag. Friends mentioned they wanted the new CTs, so I bought 5 CT22 used just after the new ones were being shipped.

Those cost me slightly over USA$200 including a working 27mm AS hose. Personally I would not pay $200 these days.

if it works thats a good price, itts what I paid for my used one and mine looks all beat up but it sure can pick up dust

Thanks for the feedback!!!  How do I check if they are hepa filters or not?

I believe the color of the filter, and the surface texture are different.

I'm not sure whether the part numbers are marked on the filter or not.

-Part number for the Hepa filters are 493334.

-Part number for "standard" filters are 452923

-It looks like there may also be a "longlife" filter that only goes to 1 micron as well.

Tyler,

Another issue is the hose size and type.  I believe my CT22 came with a 27mm antistatic hose that was 11-1/2 feet long.  However, that does not mean that a used one will come with the same hose.

I also have several antistatic hoses - several 27mm, one 36mm, and one 50mm.  And one 36mm non-antistatic hose.  I've modified several of my hoses for different reasons - creating an adapter hose, repairing damage, etc.  And I don't use the non-antistatic hose because the static attracts dust.  (I used it on my Kapex for a long session and it looked like a fuzzy snake.)

The point is that the hose (or lack thereof) that included with a used CT can greatly affect the value, especially if you need a 36mm or 50mm hose antistatic hose.  For example, if there is no hose or the hose is damaged, the most inexpensive, base 27mm 11.5 ft hose is $115.

Good luck with your search.

Dan.
