Used my Domino XL to mod desk height

Our shop was called to go out to a client's office and touchup and "deluxe" the finish on a vintage fliptop rosewood desk by Danish designer, Peter Løvig Nielsen. This was sold by a vintage mid-century furniture dealer we do work for regularly. When the client called to setup an appointment, he and his interior decorator wanted to know if the desk could be raised 2".

After looking at the possible options, and seeing that spacers hidden under the top wouldn't work, I thought my new Domino XL could be used to make "shoes" for the legs. The decision was made and the client and decorator sketched a simple design with the extensions topped with ebony to fit under each leg.

We couldn't get the Brazilian rosewood to match the desk, so we found some Central American rosewood with similar grain. We used epoxy to glue the 3 parts for each "shoe" but didn't glue the domino tenon into the legs so they could be removed later, if desired. We had to custom stain them to match the desk. Then they were topped with a couple coats of oil. Really worked out great and the client was happy. Sorry for these really bad cellphone pictures.

EDIT: added better pictures from my buddy's phone below

Clever solution. I really like that it is reversible if so desired.

Great idea, interesting desk too, Thanks for showing. Btw one of my shop upgrades is a year pass ($40) to the danish industrial arts museum-KunstindustriMuseet here in Copenhagen that is loaded with fine funiture and design a real treat..
