Used SDS bits in Milwaukee Hammer Drill because I can't get a PDC or Festool SDS

Tonight I drilled some holes to anchor the bottom plate of some walls in my shop to the concrete. I have some SDS bits, but no SDS drill so I chucked them into my Milwaukee M28 Hammer Drill. It's an oldie but goodie.

I would have liked to be using them in a Festool SDS drill - I sold my old AEG one in anticipation - but they're NAINA. And I have quite a few more holes to drill.

C'mon Festool - please get more of the line over here?

I feel your pain wow, I want the PDC, BHC, and Duradrive drills but I have a feeling I wont see these at my dealer anytime soon.

Yeah, I don't have a lot of hope but I can [poke] them publicly here. Other than that, there isn't much that I can do - which is INCREDIBLY frustrating!!!!

I guess I could offer them a First Aid Systainer in exchange for all the items you mentioned. I can't conceive of them turning THAT deal down, can you?

[big grin]

Perhaps someone from Festool Germany might!?

I somehow doubt the good people at Festool USA have multiples of these NAINA drills to trade with.

Is it worth it to you to just get one shipped over?  I mean am I missing something or would it be violating some laws?

Don't know about violating laws, but:

1. Charger won't work on normal US current.

2. Shipping cost is pretty high

3. No warranty

And that's just what I can think of in 2 minutes...

wow

You can just get a basic driver and use NA batteries, all batteries are the same I believe
Yes, shipping costs might be much, I guess its up to the individual
When have you ever had a warranty issue with a FESTOOL product?  [big grin]

Just saying, not sure I'd go the extra distance but not sure what it's worth to some people

I have all the same reasons as wow, and on top of that - I would like to support my local Festool dealer. It's a loss to them to not have the ability to sell these NAINA tools.

If I was a Festool dealer I would be upset that people are being urged to aquire their tools overseas.

Good point. So to add to my list:

4. Doesn't allow me to support my local dealer(s).

Thanks for mentioning that!

This is the SDS Rotary Hammer drill I have.  Love using it.  Love attaching electrical boxes and conduit to concrete basement walls.  I'd commit suicide if I had to use a regular hammer drill again.  Depending how many holes you have to drill, I might suggest going to your local tool store and getting a rotary hammer drill.  Can't quite understand the fanaticism for a drill brand.  Its an electric motor that turns a drill bit.  Almost all drills work about the exact same as every other drill.

I agree with you regarding the regular hammer drill vs. the SDS although I wouldn't go as far in the hyperbole as the "committing suicide" part.  As far as drills go, my 2 Festool drills are the weakest part of my Festool collection by far, but I make do with them because of the right angle, offset and centrotec chucks.  I do regret selling my Dewalts though.
