There is a topic on using a Carvex to cut circles that made me think of a question that I've had for a while.

I use a MicroFence circle jig to cut circles up to 4' diameter with a router (usually my Bosch 2018) and it does a perfect job every time.  Sometimes I rough cut the circle first, especially with thicker hardwoods.  Sometimes I don't.

That said, I don't have experience using my MicroFence with a Festool router - yet.  I've got a 2200 and a 1400, and I like the 2200 for the excellent dust collection indoors, despite the fact that it is a beast.  The 1400 I like because is it is easier to handle.  Anyone have any suggestions for the best way to hook either (or both) of them up to a MicroFence?.  Is the best way just to get the right MicroFence adapter for whichever router?

If you already have everything you need for the Bosch then all you need is the adapter plate. That’s pretty painless compared to the stuff you have already invested in.

Yes, I have the circle jig and micro-fence system for the 2200 and the 1400. I just use the adapter plate between the two, same adjustment mechanism. It is awesome on the 2200. I love using it because it is so heavy and stable. The edge guide very easy to use and fantastic quality.

Yea just get the mounting bar from MicroFence for any other router youd like to use it with. I use it with the OF 1010 and OF 1400 with the two respective mounting bars. LINK

I’ll flip the MicroFence between the 700, the 1010 & the 1400. It’s a sweet system and the repeatability and accuracy is second to none. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Rich directly and he’ll walk you through the process. I’ve contacted him on a Sunday between ball games and he’s replied the same day. He’s great at customer service. High recommend.

I can confirm that on all points!
