Using Dust collector (Oneida/Dustopper) significantly reduces sunction power.

Any cyclone added to any system will reduce the airflow because a cyclone has to be inefficient to do its job.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but if that silver hose is going from the cyclone to your vac, you have it on the wrong inlet/outlet... the vac should be connected to the upper connection and the side connection should go to your tool.

And people wonder why I always ask "can you post a picture to clarify what you're asking?"

Great catch!

I also checked suction power by placing my palm at end of hose, and it seems suction power is reduced to half.

According to THIS analysis, thats about right.

I got tired of my Dust Deputy falling over and mounted it to my dust collector.

This looks Great! :) I have mine sitting on ground but I keep knocking it over too.  I guess I'll try something similar.

I was so busy looking at the connections and thinking about hose diameters, I didn't spot the ports were mixed up  ;D

Good lesson learned there!

The little-known product sounds interesting. I searched but didn't find any users making their separators based on that and sharing user experience.

I just purchased CT 15 and MIDI for my shop.  Both are connected to dust collector, hoping I don't have to replace bags often.

But when I use them for my miter saw, table saw, and planer, I see dust buildup inside of hose where they are connected to tools.

I also checked suction power by placing my palm at end of hose, and it seems suction power is reduced to half... does any know how to properly use Festool vacuum with dust collector? For example, hose length, proper connectors, or reduce hose coils (possibly use boom arm)?

If your planer is a hand held device then fine but if you have a planing machine you need a different type of extraction.

Your CT15 is a High Pressure Low Volume (HPLV) vacuum but a planing machine needs Low Pressure High Volume (LPHV).

Even so, a hand held planer, like the EHL, does produce a lot of chippings and so a large diameter hose is required.

You also need to check for leaks in your system.

Good luck.

Ah I see.  I was hoping to use two Festool vacuums since my garage size is limited.  Thanks for your input and I'll consider getting LPHV vacuum when my hobby becomes more use of heavy machinary :) Thanks!

I use my CT36 as dust collection for my jointer.
It has a port for a 4" hose, so I had to make an adapter.
Certainly the jointer was intended for a bigger dust collector, but the CT36 actually works rather well.  I can fill up the 5 gallon pail of my Dust Deputy in a few minutes.
