Using Holzher Glue cartidges with the Conturo

Has anyone used the Holzher cartridges in the Conturo edgebander? I have a Holzher 1310 edgebander in my shop. The cartridges I use are the Kliebert 782. They are the same diameter as the Festool Glue cartridges and achieve application viscosity at 195C.

No, but I have wondered the same thing. I only have a conturo due to space limitations so I wasnt sure if the diameter was the same.  Although I had suspected it was.  I dont see why it wouldnt work.

Does the Holzher cartridge fit in the conturo?  Or does it need to be cut down to fit in the loading port of the conturo?  Also what is the cost difference and is the holzher glue available in the same/more colors? Based on what I saw I dont know if there is any cost savings with the holher glue but if you want to run PUR glue it might be easier to source it in the holzher glue.  Interested in knowing how it goes.

I use Jowat glue pucks in my Conturo that I source from Ostermann (German company)here in the UK.

They are exactly the same diameter as the Festool pucks (63mm) but are much longer (78mm) and wont fit in the Conturo loading port so i just cut them in half slowly on my bandsaw....Although its a bit of a fiddle to do so, they work out about half of the price of the Festool pucks.

The picture below shows the length of the larger pucks compared to 3 of the Festool options.

It would be worth comparing the spec sheets on the Festool puck compared to the product you want to use.

I use Dorus, and they have a good documentation on viscosity at a given temperature and softening point etc. If you can get a spec sheet for the Festool glue you could find a product with similar characteristics.

Great idea. I do have the Kliebert viscosity data on hand. I'll see what Festool has to offer and compare.

I think a glue designed for a lower feed speed would also be better for the Conturo. I would imagine Kliebert lists recommended feed speed for their products.

Dorus recommends KS 224/2 Low viscosity, fast melting EVA hot melt specifically designed for manually operated edgebanders.

Holzher is the only edgebander I know of that uses cartridges. They made a hand held version at one time, I have always wondered if they make the Festool bander. They are both based in Germany so??

I don't have a Conturo. I use the Dorus glue in my edgebander. I have a 1310, but it  has a hopper to use glue pellets.

Could you provide me with the Jowat Mfg. Number of the Cartridge and if possible...the viscosity and melting temp. specs? I'll try to source the same here in Canada.

Based on the conturo glue that specs it weighs 4.07 kg per box which is almost 9 lbs and a full box costing $145 on amazon that's just over $16 per pound.  the stuff from woodworkers ex. ranges fron 4.62 per pound for the natural to 5.92 for the black that's a substantial cost savings if you do alot of edge banding.  Doesnt look like they have the dark brown only black, white and nat. woodworkers does charge for shipping so that will offset some of the savings.

Please find attached the technical info provided by my supplier.

I've only used the White so far and I bought a box that came with 48 pucks.
It worked out to be half the price of the Festool pucks.

Distinctive Interiors....Thanks much. That's great. I do have a supplier in my area for that Cartridge. There's also the Kliebert cartridges that I normally use in my Holzher edgebander and they appear to be in this range.
