Using the MFT for a door hanging station ?

Has anybody seen a door support that attaches to MFT legs?

Has anyone made or purchased stirrup to support passage doors to mortice for hinges.
I have a lot of doors at different locations to install.
The stirrup or support would be attached to the 2 legs on MFT and could be adjustable for different width and height doors.
any ideas ?

Excuse me drfaux but whats a stirrup...? When google-ing the only thing that pops up is this horse riding related thingy...

I think he means tapered wedge cut out that you usually find on saw horse, wedges a door vertically on it's side.
I use these, http://www.pro-fitinnovations.co.uk/products/magic-gripper-door-clamp/
I worked with a diy knock off for years but now have the originals they work brilliant. They're sprung slightly so you just place on floor, drop door in and the doors weight wedges them snug in a vertical position to release you just lift door out.

Hi,

 Welcome to the FOG  [smile]

I know that there are several topics on FOG showing methods to do what you want. I am trying to think of a good set of search words to find them.

Thanks Alex
I have been using something similar.
I had a Rousseau door hanging station that elevated the door off the floor. It made it more comfortable to work on.
Sadly I got rid of it yrs ago
Trying to do the same concept with the MFT
Sorry about the stirup  its a support for the butt edge of the door.

I've zip tied some pegs and then some clamps to the MFT to do hinge mortises and the clamps and pegs will flex under the weight of a solid door and break the zip ties. Then I borrowed a friend's Rousseau table and, wow, what a difference.

A much better idea than the clamps is a set of 4x4 blocks with the space for a door edge dadoed out. At least then the door won't crash to the floor.

But there's no comparing the Rousseau to a cobbled together MFT system if you are hanging more than a handful of doors.

There was a thread where a member used some bike pegs that were the right size on the MFT legs. What I'm calling pegs are the things that stick out of the end of the axle or frame of trick style BMX bikes, you stand on them when doing a mono (wheelie). He found ones that were the right diameter to fit on the MFT legs. They loosen by turning the peg itself and could be folded in for transport. I never found a pair, I looked at a shop or two, they'd be way easier to find in the states I'm guessing.

Hadn't seen that before; looks useful.

Seems the bike pegs were the inspiration though, and that they were actually made from 36mm (34.9mm?) bicycle seat post clamps, 1/2" steel pipe, and handlebar grips (in Festool green of course).

I have just supported the door on systainers and used a Festool clamp to hold the door against the mft.

Systainers are more than a storage/carry box.  ;D ;D
