Good afternoon guys, Need to order some bamboo veneer from my local supplier. He has fleece back but paper back would be 3 weeks away. What is the real difference, pro cons etc. He also has fleece back bamboo edge banding which I will order and glue on with contact cement.

thx

I've used paper-backed veneer before. Usually you find it on burls, or other fragile veneers as it helps to hold them together. I found that I had to use more glue than normal as the paper really soaks it up. I have never used contact cement before for veneering and I'm not sure why one would use that instead of other glues. I use PVA.

Thanks Richard, the veneer is for refacing cabinets as is the edge tape

I don't have any personal experience however over here they sell veneer for cabinet refacing with the pressure sensitive adhesive already attached, just peel and stick. I believe it has been used for years successfully.
