Thanks Cheese, I was pretty sure this the one also but wanted verification before I ordered fittings...gotta love FOG.

Ya I'm going to order some fittings tomorrow. I'm hooking this up to a Milwaukee vacuum pump that was used for a Vacu-Rig, a core drilling piece of equipment.

Are you all doing this to save money on the vac part of the vac sys but still plan to buy the hold downs?

Mark

Saving money is a definite plus in this case.  The refrigeration pump I've use for the last 15 years I bought for $15. from a surplus business.  Probably so cheap as it is 220V.  Not a problem as I use it in shop only.  I have the Sys I and II.  I already had two of the Virutex vacuum setups but the Festools are much more adaptable.  I just finished making a side attachment rig from 8020 extrusions to put the vac height level with my MFT top.  Much handier height for use.

Pictures please. I need to make an adapter for my work bench top as well.

Thanks
Jack Lemley

Ya, I had a Vac-U-Rig core drill that was stolen  [mad], but the idiots left the vacuum pump behind.  [eek]  So I'm adapting the Milwaukee vacuum pump to work with the Festool heads. The Festool heads work really well and are elegantly designed. Looking them over carefully, I'd actually say that I'm surprised that Festool isn't charging more for them.  [thumbs up]

Cheese is right about the pricing.  If you check out industrial vacuum clamping systems, the cups alone can cost almost as much as the base clamping Sys's.  I do glass work and a stand alone single head clamping system for sanding glass edges is $3500.00  [scared]

Don't give 'em any ideas. [scared]

Got most of parts today, quick test seems to work correctly. Just need one more fitting to get all the connections perfect. I'll report back tomorrow

Finished up setting the Venturi yesterday. I had it working quickly but it makes a lot of noise since it discharges air when it's active. I dealt with it for the day but decided to put the Venturi unit in my attic so I didn't have to listen to it.
I ran a pvc air supply line with regulator to the Venturi off my compressor with its own shutoff near the bench where I plan to use the Festool vac sys clamp. Ran another line down from the Venturi to my work bench to supply the Vac clamp.
All in all it was about $150 in parts and about 3hours of time, including a couple trips to the hardware store.
Works like a champ and I used the Festool connections on the Vac Clamp which gives me the option of using it with Festool's air pump if I choose to buy it in the future.

Nice [member=7770]Brandon[/member] !!

Can you list the extra parts you ended up purchasing, along with who you ordered them from?

Thanks!

Will do, the only things I really needed to order were the male nipple from Festool Ekat and some 8mm x 5mm tubing from Amazon, my local hardware store didn't have any and 5/16" tubing wasn't quite the right fit for the Venturi. I'll check the Festool part # tomorrow, I have it written down in my shop.
Other than that I have 3/4" pvc run all over my shop for air so I had whatever other connections I needed.
I'm curious, is the Hold Fast vacuum generator noisy as well?

Hey [member=7770]Brandon[/member]

I'm also interested in the part number of the male nipple.  [thumbs up]

Placing the venturi elsewhere was a good move. Between the the air compressor constantly turning on and off, and the whistle of the venturi, it would quickly give you a headache. [eek]

Couple quick pics of what I got going on.
The 3rd pic is a piece of colorcore laminate that routed into my my table, drilled 20mm holes through and then applied another piece laminate below to seal it off so I could mount the vac clamp there
