VAC SYS DISCONTINUED?

The VAC SYS sellout will go down in Festool history as being the quickest way to get rid of a product they no longer want to sell.

Although I agree in concept regarding the quickest way to rid inventory, I doubt that Festool didn't want to sell this concept of a tool in North America.  This tool has had its challenges from the beginning.

What this does show is that many of us - MYSELF INCLUDED - think on the sidelines about perhaps buying a tool and then, and only then, do we open the wallet when an outside influence steps into our arena - like a discontinuation.

It also happened with the CMS as well as other tools.

That's how it happened for me.  The CMS and Vac SYS were both on my list of "to buy for the shop eventually", and then the announcement happened.

Actually, I got the Vac SYS before the announcement, but only just.  I had started trying to get Vac SYS components when Grizzly announced their 20% off clearance; luckily I only got shafted on the warranty on my ETS-EC 125 rather than on a full Vac-SYS set from them...

The CMS I ordered the day after the 2021 announcement.  I think the CMS was slightly "easier" to get by comparison because it had been already discontinued for a while, just not officially in the states, so most other people got theirs back in 2019 or so.

Thank you for the tip about Hartville having the Vac-Sys clamping system. I just ordered one.
I'm surprised that they could be delivered to Hartville and not Lee Valley. The Indiana connection?
Anyway, we will see.

Shane mentioned in the CMS thread that some of his orders placed a year ago are just now getting fulfilled due to supply chain issues. Maybe that’s what’s going on with Hartville and LV? Possibly Hartville got an old order in now, and LV is still waiting / is later in the queue?

Glad you got one, in any case

My ah-ha moment was the obsolescence of the MFS in the US. That put me on a mission to purchase all of the MFS parts...I was consumed, but it was well worth the effort. I use it a lot.

After that self induced drama, I approached the Festool tool discontinuation in a different manner.  [smile]

I just got off the phone with Hartville. I had ordered the Vac Sys clamping system 203148, but all I really need is the pump, 201064. I canceled the system order, and just ordered the pump. They seem to have multiples in stock, so I would look there if you have something you need for your Vac Sys system that hasn't been available.

I ordered the SE1, SE2, pump combo but only receive the pump and SE2 today. I hope I am getting the SE1 that I already paid for and need the foot pedal from.

I'm in the same situation. I ordered the complete set with the accessory set and MFT clamp. I received the pump, SE2, and accessory kit, but not the SE1 and MFT clamp. I emailed BIS asking if I would be receiving the SE1 with foot pedal, and if not, what is their return policy. I have not heard back from them yet. My order was placed on 12/21/21.

Same thing happened to me. Waiting on an update. Ordered on 12/16/2021. Missing the SE1.

Still no SE1 or any responses from BIS!

I talked with BIS yesterday and I believe they said they had 40 SE1’s that would coming in and shipping next week. They had no update or timeline on the MFT brackets. The lady was very nice and helpful. She offered to call Festool to ask about the bracket, but I said that wasn’t necessary.

Well, now they are saying late May for shipping the Vac-Sys set. Now I’m a little more concerned if the order will actually be fulfilled. It’s not as bad as the Auriou carving chisels that I ordered a year ago and I’m still waiting for some of them to be delivered. Tough times!  [cool]

I ordered a Vac-Sys from US Tool and Fastener back in December. Latest answer from them (last week) is end of April.

I got a email from
Us tool and fastener yesterday saying they have some in ,but my payment has expired ( pay pall):
I called them this mourning and re- sent my card.

Email says it’s been shipped.
Let you know
Charlie
Btw, I was thinking it wasn’t worth the trouble and was going to cancel, maybe it is worth it,let you know

[member=9356]pettyconstruction[/member], when did you order your Vac-Sys?
I had been looking at this unit for awhile but always had something else to take my money.
Until the discontinuation notice, and like most, that kicked it up.
I placed my order in late November/ early December .

VAC-PMP just arrived from Hartville Hardware, thank you for lead on the pump, it's the missing piece I've been looking for.

Yes, Mine arrived from Hartville today also, and it is likewise the missing piece to my Vac Sys armamentarium. Note to make room in the garage again.
