VAC SYS DISCONTINUED?

I thought they were all in classic Systainers? Is that not so?

The 120V pumps aren't in Systainers like the Euro versions, except 4-5 pre-released here. Michael has one and I got one (via Marc Spagnuolo). That's the pump in the background.

For those who aren't aware, in this case, "In a Systainer" means actually integrated into the Systainer, like the Rolair AirStak or the Cadex Systainer.

Otherwise, it is imminently trivial to just shove the North American Vac-Pump into a Systainer for transport purposes instead of into a cardboard box, but that's not what happened in this case.

Here's what squall_line was referring to.

I was actually meaning the heads themselves. All of the pumps I have seen are just free-standing loose items. I've never even seen the Rol-air style pump in a Systainer, pretty cool though.

Not to resurrect an old thread… But I struck gold today. I was at a local Festool dealer to pickup a CTC MIDI and also needed a corresponding vacuum accessory kit so they went digging for me in their Festool closet.  And drug out a ‘new in box’ SE1 asking if this was the vacuum accessory I was looking for.  I said, YES, YES it is!

Walked out with a SE1 and the vac pad accessory kit (all VERY dusty being they were buried in the corner of a closet for YEARS).  They didn’t have a pump, but I figured I could find a vacuum pump that would work at the end of the day.  When they were ringing me up they said they didn’t show it even in inventory, which makes sense since I had called them more than a year ago when I was on the hunt for the system.

Now for the good new…. They have 2 MORE SE1 systems sitting there ready for a lucky winner.  They don’t take internet or phone orders for shipment, but I’m willing to play broker for a small transaction fee to purchase them and ship them out to anyone in the continental US that has suffered like me on the hunt.

I’d love to hear from anyone on a recommendation for a vacuum pump that could be used with the system and not cause any issues, or supply me with the specs of a OEM vacuum unit so I can go down the rabbit hole of research looking for options!

I bought a Robinair unit off Amazon to replace the 20 year old HVAC 220v pump I’d been using

Just finished re-reading the thread after a LONG absence from following it and found a wealth of information on what pumps folks went with.  I’ll either follow the herd and go with an Excel 5 (with EVS upgrade) or may venture off the path to one of the Vacupress options (more costly, but don’t have to build out a kit option).  Will make the decision in the morning after the euphoria of finding the SE1 wears of.

Congratulations...good for you. I already have a complete Vac Sys unit using a Milwaukee/Gast vacuum pump. However, I've searched for other parts of the system and have come to realize that the places that say they have parts actually don't which leads me to believe, like in your case, there are countless places that DO have parts but they don't realize it.

So anyone that wants one, better come a running... Already have one spoken for and will be grabbing it next week week to ship it out.  Just send me a private message on here and we can work out details if you want to grab the last KNOWN SE1 in existence  [scared]. I'll be gentle on the pricing, promise.... Only looking to fund my retirement  [big grin]

To wrap up the other part of my post on the pump... I ended up going with the Compact 300 from Vacupress, along with one of their 30 Mil Industrial Extruded Polyurethane Bags.  Never tried veneers before, but have done some small laminations where I'm wandering around trying to find more weight to set on the sandwich.  Figured this will kill two birds with one stone.  Considered the Excel 3 and 5, but wanted to go turn key.

Now off to find the right QD fittings to round things out.

I have a set with the pump,se1,2,and vac sort with three systainers in very good to excellent condition. Seldom used. Any I deal what a reasonable selling price is for the set?

Just wondering what a reasonable price is? Saw them going for 3k plus on ebay.  What have Fog owners been paying?

Given the price was 50%-60% of that new when Festool was selling them, I'd say you might want to see if there isn't a way to make the tool or find another source for a similar one. I realize they are "rare" and the tool is truly a useful one regardless of the work you do, but that price would make me feel like I got ripped off even if it is  the going price right now.

For those of us who missed out ,hope maybe out there.

I have two of the Virutex units. I bought them a few years before Festool started importing.  They work great. I used a cheap surplus HVAC pump.  I did buy two Festool units as it is easier to adapt the different heads, still have the Virutexs if anyone is interested
