ok so im now confused…..

looking thru a old tool book i noticed the mini used to be 2800l/m now festool uk state 3700l/min, so the motors have changed?

i own a 2009 mini and was looking at the ctl 26 as an upgrade as it states 3900l/m (so 1100l/m more suction power?

so theres a ctl26e and a ctl26 e ac  whats the diffrence apart from around £85

and why does the 36e come with a selfclean bag and the 36ac comes with selfclean bag and a disposable bag

any links/reviews comments, ive done a search and all the numbers are crashing my head

All I can contribute is that the mini/midi have been recently upgraded with the bigger motor shared in the CT26 and larger, so they all share the same motor and all now have HEPA filters.  I bought a mini three months ago and it came with two fleece bags, one installed one in the back.

AC is the auto clean feature - has an extra diall to adjust the interval for the "bang".

My dealer ad both sitter ther and he advise to skip the AC version as he didn't feel Festool had got t right  yet.

To my understanding "self cleaning" refers to a type od disposable bag - don't confuse this with the very expsensive and messy to empty long life reuse-able bag.

so just a ctl26 e is recomended then.. it is £85 cheaper and comes with a free plastic cleaning set that i can move on ebay [cool]

will i deffo see an improvement from the mini, as tbh i dont see the amazing dust collection with my mini and d36 hose on the kapex that you guys write on hear….

There'll be an improvement over your 2009 Mini - but I can't anticipate how much. I noticed a dramatic improvement from older CT-Mini+27mm to CT36+36mm.

anyone else go from a mini +36 to a ct26 +36 and notice a big diffrence in suction, i dont fancy spending best part of £500 and seeing no improvement

I have the old mini and have always thought it lets to much of the dust out with either hose. The ctl 36+36mm hose is very efficient but I still get a fair amount (maybe 10%) of dust from MDF especially if I don't let the hoover get started before cutting.

I have the AC feature on the 36 as I got used to it with the planex hoover. It suits very fine dust which can easily clog the hoover bag, not so much wood dust. I would take your dealers advice with a pinch of salt, this system works very well with dry wall plaster dust etc if you need it. I'm guessing festool have taken it from the Planex style hoover which was originally a rebadged Alto in order that they can release the Planex in the US where it will probably sell well.

Overall the 26 and 36 are probably the all round size to have with a Kapex, I find it hard to believe the mini is packing the same punch now but I only have experience of the old one.

You're missing the point.  You bought your mini in '09 with a 99 CFM motor.  In mid 2011 they released a brand new MINI/MIDI with the exact same 137 CFM motor they larger extractors.  The point is no matter which one you get, including another MINI you will in fact get the SAME suction from all six models.  The only difference is capacity and price.
