vacum hose storage convenience

Do you have to take off all the sustainers on top of the festool vacuum to get the hose out and in? Am I doing something wrong or is it just poorly designed? It seems like if the handle in the center wasn't there and the front was open a little wider you can roll the hose and slide it in

I've taken mine out a few times. To make it fit I must push the hose tightly into the corners as I circle the handle then I loosely wrap the cord around the handle it fits, barely.
