I bought these bags never dreaming there was something other than the white self cleaning bags. Can someone explain what in the world you woud use these and how they dont ruin your hepa filter?

Thats what I have. What is that supposed to be used for and how does debris or the bag for that matter not get sucked up to the filter?
In typical festool fashion there is nothing clear in the box that tells you how to use these things. They're fixin to go in the garbage. I just don't see a use

take a look on google or youtube for how to use them.
The AutoClean vacs are designed to use them. The bag has a special paper insert to stop them being sucked up into the filter and there are mounting points inside the tub for the bag.
I think the vacs user guide also show's you how to use them.

If I recall these are specifically for use with the Planex and for drywall dust.
I don't believe these are the bags that you would use for normal woodworking applications. This should be a link to the standard bags: Festool all purpose filter bags

From the Festool site: Link
Sanding drywall creates a lot of dust. These open-face, disposable collection liners provide an easy and convenient means to dispose of the mess. Pack of 5 liners.
  • Plastic liner for use with drywall sanding applications
  • Compatible with Festool CT AutoClean Dust Extractors
  • made of plastic for extracting large volumes of dust
  • Not suitable for CT standard version (without AC)
  • FSC™-certified

Hi, not only drywall dust but also w/ rg130 grinder for cement or any of the grinding the machine is rated for, the hepa has been upgraded to be robust for the ac 36, I leave the pulsing action off with the cloth bags. Love the ac 36

Just to state something everyone takes for granted but OP is probably confused about:

These bags ARE NOT FILTERING ANYTHING.

They ONLY exist to allow emptying the vac used in AUTOCLEAN mode /i.e. without an actual bag/ without you having to take the filled tub to a place you can empty it.

Imagine a big job at a building on 10th floor where you fill 10 bags like this full of plaster dust a day. You do not stop work when the tub is full, instead you take the dust accumulated in the bag, close the bag, put in a new one and continue work. At the end of day, you take those 10 bags away for disposal. As such, these bags are /almost/ completely useless for a hobby or shop user. There are similar bags available for the CT-VA as well with the same caveat emptor.

Try to put them on Classifieds for someone who can use them in anger ... when I bought my CT 36 AC I got *one* bag like this in the initial bundle ... that was five years ago. I am yet to find use for that bag.

We all make mistakes. No shame in it.
