Doesn't seem like it. At Festool connect it was not the talk of the day

There's a couple of new videos on you tube

A demo of the Festool TSC-55 dust-free cordless t…:

Festool TS55 C Cordless Track Saw:

No ETA on any of these tools for the US/Canada right now: Conturo, TSC 55, SDS, PDC, DWC, Vecturo.

Hey, look! I'm in the background on that video. I'm famous!  [cool]

It means irritatingly long.  [mad]

The basic saw should already be UL approved maybe ?? ... and it's not like Festool have to rejig a 110V version. Call it positive thinking, but you may be pleasantly surprised. I think new releases are making it to the US much early than before.

Call me crazy and I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone does it, but if the TS55C has an identical base to the TS55R - will people be attempting cordless table saws in a CMS module (obviously outside of NA ... and crazy because cordless defeats the CMS power switch and makes it unsafe to operate).

Kev - you are crazy !

I know you are not really but your invitation was too great to resist!

I regularly called a lot worse than crazy ... try cycling in Sydney [crying]

Should not take long !!  [scared] I think it takes 18 months to get their baseball caps through ul  just joking. I am an ME and I understand ul. Just frustrating when you want a tool and do not want to buy a lesser tool because of how long it takes.

You ARE crazy.  I spent 3 months there last year (Elizabeth Bay)... and there's NO way I would want to try to ride around that city.  San Francisco-esque hills aside, the drivers are crazy, the lanes are narrow, and you all drive on the wrong damn side of the road.

I have been thinking about this...

How many times have you been at a job site or wherever and just needed to do one or two cuts. Having a cordless tool like the TSC, with integral dust capture, is going to be a valuable asset, certainly a time saver.

There must be a whole bunch of other scenarios where the TSC will be the goto tool - attics and other tight spaces, first fixers and roofers when there is no mains power and cutting stuff up to fit in the truck at the timber yard!

I want to know more about the dust bag - can it be emptied and re-used and what about performance in plywood and hardwoods?

From the videos I saw, the bag is most definitely reusable. I think there is a zipper on the back to dump it out.

I also have been thinking about when I would use such a tool (trying to justify it in my head actually!) and I had some of the same thoughts. Probably cutting things down at the lumber yard would be a big one for me, and perhaps some other reasons, but I can't think where I would need that level of precision where I wouldn't really be near a power source. I am only a hobbyist and don't think I will ever pick this item up but man do I want to!

Come on winning lotto numbers...

The TSC55 appeals for many reasons... I'd be pleased to see the end of power leads and dust extraction hoses 'jagging' on the guide rails or material being cut.  I know this is manageable with good technique but I would prefer to concentrate on getting a good clean cut.

Hhhmmmmm......September.....anyone want to bet, not this year? I think they would have to have already announced a date for a 2014 date.  So I gues I should repair my super cut.  I do look forward to the release.
