Well I'm not blown away by either of those and I was expecting to be!

I'm also less than impressed with the rubbish MFT/3 station for the new Edge Bander.

I am quite curious about what would make the Vecturo better than the Fein offerings.  Fein has been the defacto standard in the multi-tool market for quite some time and while Festool makes outstanding tools, I doubt they could unseat Fein as the leader in this category.

As it appears the vecturo may be made by or with technology from fein, the basic vecturo comes with just one universal blade and a systainer, this could mean it could be comparable in price to the basic supercut which runs at €460 incl VAT here. Which makes it cost about as much as a T15 or TS55R. I would personally be surprised if it cost more than a TSR.

If this is so and people are on the market for a powerful multitool, then why not go for the one that comes in a systainer with plug it, and has a range of unique accessories available. I like my Fein, but it's a PITA when not in use, plug it has made me hate tools with cords, and the fein suitcase they put their tools in is ridiculously over sized. first thing i did was throw mine in a ys 1 together with a dremel, that's two similar tools in a box half the fein's size, and i have all the accs in the attic lid.

I think the cordless TS55R might become a real hit, provided the guys already use Festool drills.

I do fashion store interiors mostly and most of the other contractors I encounter here in Belgium already use a Festool TS55. Even though they all have a vaccuum with them (mainly Starmix or CT26), I almost never see anyone attaching it to their saw. They just hold their hand behind the dust port. Seems like a vaccuum hose is just too much trouble for most or they just don't care about collecting the dust at the source. Seems they rather do a general cleanup at the end of the day.

I also see almost exclusively Hilti & Metabo used for drills. So if Festool can get them off those and on Festool drills, I can see this becoming real viable for them.

I recently bought the quaddrive PDC. I've had it 3 weeks and used it to some extent everyday and I'm still on my first battery haven't had to charge it at all. So it seems Festool have really made a big step forward in this area whether it's the battery or super efficient motors but I certainly will add the saw to my list. I won't replace my fein MM until festool do a battery version but it looks good.

If TSC 55 has strong performance in run time and power (batteries and motor) and I like the way it 'test drives' I'll go for it.  I can't remember the last time I used one of my corded drills!

For on site work in new construction, I always use a dust bag for my ts55 I pulled off an old rigid tool.  It works great, and saves me the hassle of dragging up a vacuum.

here you can get a Fein in T-loc but i don't think it is "official", more likely a special order from the dealer.

i wasn't initially thrilled by a cordless plunge saw, but after thinking about it i realize i only use mine for short periods. As i have a panel saw in my workshop i only use the TS for special work or on site adaptations. All stuff well within the range of cordless.

I wonder if the other name festool patented "sysclean" would not be a cordless vac the size of a systainer, maybe festool is planning a complete cordless range for site work?

No it's only a temporarily offer with the SuperCut machines.
And I heard from the Dutch Fein sales person that there will be no empty Fein systainers for sale.
And the offer is only for the period of 01-03 untill 30-06-2014.
If we complain a lot maybe Fein will consider to sell them separately?

It will surprise me a lot if Festool does not have some innovation not present in the Fein SuperCut.  I can't think of any other Festool tool that did not have some "extra" when it was introduced to the market.

You can see the two batteries in the picture - presumably both 18 v ?

How does the dust bag work? Is it paper and gets thrown away or cloth and gets emptied?

Like I said, runs off either a single or dual batteries for a total potential of 36v. I believe it uses either 15v or 18v batteries but not 12v, probably due to lack of ample juice to power it adequately.

The dust bag is cloth with a zipper. There's an integrated cap that can be used to cap it off when not attached to the saw. The dust port has been redesigned on the TSC so that the "nozzle" can be disconnected and the dust bag can attach with a positive locking mechanism rather than sliding on.

Some of the final refinements are different than the prototype tool I've used and I haven't seen the final production model in person, only photos.

Very close to that of the corded model. I don't have any exact specifications and that's just based on my observations. I suspect Germany will release a more exact figure with the same methodology used to measure other tools, which is to weigh a piece of lumber, make a bunch of cuts, then weigh the lumber and captured dust to calculate the percentage captured.

Conclusion specs on paper are the same between TS 55 R and TSC 5 with 36V batteries.
Now we need to know how it performs in practise.

Based on the fact that it's so similar to the mains version in terms of component type and count, I'd be unhappy if the 'naked' version cost more than the mains version +5%. For a set, take the mains version price and add the cost of 2 batteries & a charger.

It's a DC motor versus an AC motor.

And, I think it will come with two chargers, but I'm not positive. There's room for two batteries and two of the compact TCL chargers in the Systainer.
