Velspar and Festool Colors.

Does anyone have a guess for the medium-gray used in the rubberized parts, like the drill handles?

The closest RAL match in my RAL index is probably 5008 (Grey blue) although it's a little dark. There's certainly nothing else that is the correct grey/blue colour, so it's possible it's just a consequence of the material being coloured.

Anyway, here's a photo, with RAL 5004 (Black blue) and RAL 6018 (Yellow green) against the CSX for comparison.

Well I’m glad that Sherwin-Williams has started carrying Festool.

A couple of days ago, I went into my local Sherwin-Williams and they had NO CLUE about RAL, CMYK, or even RGB colors.  The only thing they said they could match was other paint manufacturers color names IF they were in their system.  (Facepalm)

Luckily, they had a Systainer in the store so they could color match the gray for me.

Shaking my head...

This tool has some more information about RAL colors, and a convenient conversion tool:
https://rgb.to/ral/page/1

Fine Paints of Europe, located in Vermont, sells paint made in the Netherlands, and offers RAL colors, among many other collections:
http://www.finepaintsofeurope.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=98

The description states:

210 distinctive “full” colors first catalogued in Bonn, Germany in 1925. Colors were originally developed for commercial/industrial specification but have recently been rediscovered – broadly specified for smart, contemporary interiors

Can you tell me the SW paint code for the grey?

Here's what they matched the other day for me:

I understand that Valspar is a US paint company. Recently they took over the Australian Paint company Wattyl.

Can anyone in NA tell me the three Valspar colors that represent the three Festool colors?

Thanks in advance.

I'll tell you what I did.  I took my festool router down to Sherwin Williams and they did an exact match on the Festool Green and Gray.
I sprayed it on a project I was working on and it looked awesome.

FWIW...since this thread was first started, Valspar has been purchased by Sherwin Williams back in 2017.

So the easiest method to get the color you need is to just go to a Sherwin Williams store and use their color match system. It really does work well and it's fast & easy.

Unfortunately, SW doesn't use RAL, CMYK or any of the other color matching schemes including Pantone.  Bring in a clean sample of what you want color matched and they'll shoot it with a scanner. It's painless.

Just make sure the sample you use hasn't yellowed or faded because what the scanner sees is what you get.
