Oohh...

Frank, even without reading the review, I want one of those.  Those planes look like a sexy sports car ;-)

As soon as the link loaded up my first words were "WOW"

I would love to have one of those, but I would also love to have the LN rabbet block plane.

It's so pretty I would find it hard to use!

I hear you on that, but LN's are beauuuuuuuuuutiful too and I have no problem about using them.

Wow! Beautiful, wish I needed one. I need an OF1400 more and $300 would take me a long ways towards that.

They are sexxxxxy!  really look like they're trying to compete with the LN block planes.  I'll have to pick one up next week - although its always bad for my wallet when I go into the Lee Valley store...

Definitely worthy of a design award!!  One should be added to the NY museum of modern art, next to the Movado watch.  Looks like it was designed by Pinifarina or some other Italian design studio famous for its car designs.

I'm trying my best to avoid buying one.  I already have their old one and a LN rabbeting block plane.  I'll probably get one eventually.

Lee Valley is a real fine Canadian company. I just talked with my contact there and the more popular of two planes is the NX60 Premium Block Plane and it is sold out for the moment. I have one on order and will post thoughts when I have a chance to use it. It sure looks sleek.

just ordered mine few dats ago cant wait!!besides festool tools planes are the most important tools in my shop

Lee Valley is a Canadian company.  However, their tools are manufactured by Veritas (a subsidiary).

for those who dont know about veritas.......................

a few years ago i bought a low angle veritas block plane

the moment i used it

it became the ONLY hand plane i use on site or in the workshop

I was lucky enough to get one of these and it is now the pride of my collection.  Out of the box I was shaving tissues of Ipe end grain. It looks sexy and feels the same. Everyone I've shown it to drools.

Coincidentally, last week I asked my wife to get me a Lee Valley plane for my birthday next month. I buy a lot of stuff from them. Their customer service is second to none- even Festool which is very good would come in second to them. I placed an order on their website on Thursday night and it arrived at my office Friday lunchtime. Once I ordered some things and after they had arrived, I realized I had forgotten a small item. So they sent it out immediately with no shipping charge.

I was in their Ottawa store last month and amongst other things I picked up a Tanos sortainer. The Lee Valley employee told me he didn't understand their high price but he sold loads of them to "a few people who go crazy for them." Er, that would be FOGgers I presume!

i have had the veritas nx-60 for over a year now.
it is a pleasure to use. the extra weight really helps.
i also have a small bronze lie nielsen 102 block plane which i use on site.

the veritas stays in my workshop.
i paid AU$460 in october 2008. i see they are selling here for AU$360 now.
i was seriously considering buying another one!

regards, justin.
