Hi,

I made a trestle table that came out pretty well.  Also some matching chairs which were quite the challenge.  I really wanted to do something different, but that would be attractive and comfortable.  I think it came out well let me know what you think.

Holy crap - it's alive!!!!

[big grin]

Nice project and cute video. More, please?

And in case no one has said it -  [welcome] to the FOG!

Thank you!!

I don't think I will make another one like that for awhile.  It was very time consuming, I think over 1,5oo frames!

I am finishing up the job tomorrow, there are just two bar stools that will be in the same style.

I really like the design of table and chairs.  Oh yeh  [welcome] to the FOG!!

Are you working from plans? I really like the chairs.

Thanks  I am often surprised at how well some of my projects turn out.  I did the design myself.  Normally I just do sketches.  For the table I did a mock up of a straight legged base with 2x2's.  I did this to make sure the bottom of the base would be wide enough and not tip.  Also it is quite small for a trestle table.  My client wanted a five foot long table, so I had to make sure there was enough room at the ends for someone to sit.

Chairs are quite the challenge, for these i made a crude prototype from poplar.  Originally I had a flat back and both front and rear legs were the same profile.  It took me awhile to come to terms with the idea that I would have to curve the back, and sculpt the seat.  Both of these things took a lot of extra time.

Thanks again for watching the video!

Well done! I loved the video and so did my kids.  [big grin]

I have seen something similar from someone else I know who does it with radio control cars that build themselves from the box. I think how he does it is put the video recorder on a tripod and just record video and keep stepping out of the frame (actually since it is all on a table he just leans back and out of shot, then cuts out the parts of the video which he doesn't want. I guess if the camera has a time lapse function then it could be done in a similar way with still shots. Anyway, I know nothing about video editing and timelapse, but if that helps you out then we might see more of these.  [big grin]

I actually used two iPhones and an app called stop motion cafe.  I tried two other stop motion apps, but this one worked the best.  This app allows you to use a remote camera.  So I set one phone up on a tripod and the other phone acted as the view finder and controlled the shutter.  This was nice so I did not have to keep walking back to the tripod and risk disturbing it to take a picture.  After a hundred or so frames I would upload what I had done to my macbook air, just to save it so I would not lose anything if the app happened to crash or something.  Once in I movie I put all the pieces together.  It was pretty easy just time consuming.
