Video Preview of Festool WCR-1000 (498507)

Ordered my last night before I saw Paul's review. Now I have even more to look forward to.

Darn you Paul Marcel and Brice!  I was sure I didn't need a WCR and now I gotta have it.

I'll bet that we see lots of clever user mods to the WCR, just like those for the MFT.

ha ha, one down, so many to go...

This is definitely going to be an Etch-A-Sketch accessory... so many ways to modify it.  I'd like to get some of the screws and feather keys used to lock the pivoting table in place.  I think you could come up with clever shop-made accessories that attach to the inside of the columns (or outside of the back one if you don't have a boom arm).  I'm also thinking that you could use hose clamps if necessary for things to attach on the bottom of the columns (where the feather keys don't work).  But those look so "radiator".

Tip test tonight.  Preliminary shaking last night and more aggressively this morning shows it won't tip, which is good as there's been enough 'tipsy' in my shop lately  [blink]

I'm still trying to think of different ideas to replace the Systainer.  Lots of people had good ideas here and many more will hopefully chime in.  I'm thinking Seth will likely have great ideas... he's the only guy I know who dissects and reassembles Systainers in crafty ways.

Paul, I've done some tip testing with a fully loaded WCR and it did well.

Excellent... maybe "WCR" is "Weebles Can't Rock"

To me it felt like the extra weight of the WCR made the whole thing more stable plus the weight is firmly centered.

I don't think your comment is going to help Jesse  [tongue]

On my first read I thought you meant that it tipped over in grand fashion! I'm interested to see what mods everyone does to personalize their WCR's. I noticed Paul has a slick monkeys sign on his.

I'm putting on mine, "WILL WORK FOR FOOD   Festools " and rolling it down the street.

Weble wobbles don't fall down, see for yourself.

Festool Workcenter

The Workcenter is on the CT26, the top of it stands about 51" (1.3 meters) off the floor.

Oh, come on Brice! Hit it like you're tackling a Festool trainer to steal his rare Festo shirt!  [wink]  [poke]

will it fit with the oneida dust deputy systainer somehow? would be nice not having to change the bag so often and disassemble the entire thing to do so

My guess is at least X-Large.

I had absolutely NO thoughts of or interest in this accessory until this damn thread.
Curses to both Paul and Brice!!
Brice - I was impressed with your storing all those Festools on the WCR. Virtually mirrors my collection. I am a huge fan of having ready access to tools and have always disliked the Systainers due to that. The WCR could make it even easier to access and store in a compact space. I still have to put some thought into my Dust Deputy as space is so tight for me.

Peter, I don't want to give too much away about my review but the gist of it is de-cluttering my workspace via the WCR.  As I said in my video, my tools start to get out of hand as I progress through my projects.  I keep having to move them out of the way or end up putting them on the floor and tripping over them.  Festool really hasn't promoted the WCR to show its full potential.  Showing it storing nick nacks is almost silly.  I had twelve tools and other accessories on it and everything was still easily accessible.  I sort of imagine the WCR like the boom arm, seems like a luxury or indulgence until you use one and you realize it'd be some of the best money you could ever spend.

Ok Brice.  [smile]
Waiting on your review- waiting - waiting - waiting

No kidding!

Paul has already cost me an RS2 and an OF2200, and now he and Brice are making it hard for me to resist the WCR.  [eek]

Terrance and Phillip...

Paul and Brice?

[scared]

When I first look at the it did not look that useful and expensive. After see Paul set his up then might be changing. It look like his is a very usefull workstation. It just might make it on to my buy list. [crying]

Nice review guys but???  Doesn't this thing have a commemorative cup holder and storage for extra bottles? ;D
