I am one of the guys who went out and bought the rustic head for their 850. I had some rough milled oak beams that looked pretty awful, and I thought "nothing to lose" - apart from the £109 for the planer head.
As you start, you have grave doubts. It can't possibly look good. You're chewing great dings out the wood in an utterly random fashion. Gradually it looks better. Then you load up the RO125 with 80 grit Sapir and suddenly it starts looking really good.
The acid test was the reaction from Mrs Rxe. I propped the beams up next to the fireplace, and she said "how much did you pay for those, they look really good". She didn't believe they were the manky old beams that have been stacked in the shed for the last 5 years.
Got the lintel and some trimming to do next. I'll take some pics and introduce my looney diesel table saw to the FOG.
