This project is a continuation of a large job I showed earlier this year.  There was some conflict as to what the end use of this room was to be due to the fact that the house this project was in was for sale.  The seller did not want to invest the money in equipment for the designed AV room but felt it needed to be at a state of finish comparable to rest of the basement.  The compromise was the "flex" room that would be finished but not specifically for a theater.

Long story short, the house sold and the owner wants to complete the AV room.  Thank God we embedded the appropriate wiring.

The lighting in the pics gives the wood a real warm look, almost like cherry. The coffered ceiling details are quite interesting, looks like a great project to have worked on.

Chris looks great!
And a great deal of detail.
I assume that you are going to get to do the "theater" for the new owner now?

This is really fabulous stuff.  Unfortunately, the folks for whom this is just a basement flex room probably won't ever appreciate the effort and craftsmanship, so you'll have to settle for FOG admiration, the paycheck, and going home to the people who do appreciate the effort.

Beautiful work; I agree that the coffered ceilings really add to all the details... curved casings, recessed openings, all outstanding.  [not worthy]

chris, awesome job

did you make and install, I assume,  that must have been a fun project, thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys.  It is true that for the most part that the home owners have no idea what it takes to do what we do.  Not much feed back other than the gratuitous paychecks.  It does mean a lot to me that a group of my peers make comment on the work that I show.  Thanks guys.

This project is pretty much an assembly job.  We did some sizing and a few rabits here and there but for the most part we applied stock trim to accomplish a detailed build up.  I used the hell out of my ts55 and ets115 on the recessed panels.  The rail and stile is most pocket holed with a few dominoes to allow for some panels to be indexed and attached securely while keeping the fastener burried.  By far the most important tool in my arsenal on this project was all the dust collection we used to keep this completely enclosed room habitable.

Well Chris if you'd like some positivecfeedback from the owners come to my house and do that? I'll give you lots of positive feedback and paychecks to boot!

Keep up the grea work and please continue to send us pics

Cheers

thats amazing chris. you wouldnt know you cheated and aplied everything [wink] it looks it is all traditionally done. great job.
did you pre finish and assemble or do it afterwards.

Chris,

That is some amazing work.  I cannot imagine it being any better.  Regardless of what this was actually going to be used for, it had to be a major selling point of the house.  Too bad it is hidden away in a basement.

Good job.

Very nice Chris!
I cringe at the lumber bill for that  [eek]  is it just cleared, or is there a tinted stain to it?
I think they could use a few more cans in that space! Don't think I have that many in my whole house!

Love walnut, but your right, dust collection with it is a premium! The dust messes with my nose! lol.
