hey everybody

this is my first post so bear with me.  i have always wanted to post on the fog but have never had something that i thought worthy.  i have been using festool for three years now and it has really changed the way i think about the process of building furniture. the domino has always been my favorite and i wanted to show off the beauty of the domino.  the piece took 9 weeks and is made of solid black walnut with the drawer boxes out of european beech to match the dominos the finish is dull rubbed lacquer.  all of the joinery in the cabinet is exposed to show off the "anatomy" of the cabinet.  hope you guys like it

First Let me say welcome to Fog....

Having said That what a absolutely awesome piece of furniture you created. This piece shows off your cabinetry work at it best and I love the anatomical consruction to show off the Domino usage at its best

I can say you have joined in with ranks of many who will appreciate your design and execution for sure  [welcome]

Dude, seriously this is wicked cool!  That's a lot of figuring...kudos to you!  I like the look of that finish on the walnut as well!

Welcome to the FOG!

That's got a very haunting, almost exposed / skeletal feel to it. Certainly provokes an emotion. From the small pic I thought "hmm, ok - it's classical", then I saw the detail  [scared]

Festool should buy that piece off you to put it in their Domino showroom.

Amazing work City2000!!  Talk about woodwork and artwork coming together.  I agree with Reiska, that's a piece that Festool should scoop up to show off!  Any other pieces you plan on making with the exposed domino design?

Nice work, and execution. The irony of this piece is very amusing (i.e. Claes Oldenburg) - modern joinery contrasted with traditional design. I think it's fun to look at. It looks like all the hot air from the puffed up Highboy is blowing out of the cabinet.

Welcome and I like this piece -- something new and different, which is nice.  Thanks for sharing!

Yep! And he should make sure and put a nice premium on it like Festool does to us!!

Is it only on display tonight?  Or will it be longer?  I was just in Chicago this week and I will be back the week after next...

Kev, this is the second time in as many days that I whole heartedly agree with your comments.  Haunting is the adjective that certainly comes to mind.  beautiful piece.  Saw it last night on Festool's Facebook page very late.  Reposted it onto ours with simply a "Holy Crap..."  Late at night the mind isn't as sharp and adjectives are sometimes at a loss.

What a fantastic first post. Its weird to look at in an "oh its not glued up yet" type of way. As a piece of art its very Damien Hurst esc....... Thanks for posting and bending my little brain [eek]
