Want to purchase 5mm Bits

Is it possible to buy the Stubby brad point 5mm drill bits separate from the set?

Not really. If you broke one, you can try contacting our service department. Sometimes they have a spare one from a set. But, generally not.

You can always buy a line boring bit like those from Amana, but be aware that they have a 10mm shank.  If you're going to use them in a drill, they'll work fine with the chuck PROVIDED that you don't set the flat on one of the jaws.  If you want to use then in a router, you'll need either a 10mm collet or use a sleeve bushing to take the 10mm shank out to 1/2".

Shane,

Does this mean Festool USA has discontinued Dowel Drill HW D 5mm Cat# 491-066 brad-point style bit for stopped holes for shelf pins and hardware installation?

Those are the most effective pin hole bottoming drill I have ever used.

I'm not Shane, Carroll, but I'm looking at one I brought in last week...

I think the OP is referring to the Stubby centrotec brad-point bit.

Tom, I asked Shane the question because I recently received a shipment of those myself. They are still shown in the 2013 catalog. Who knows what will still be shown in the 2014 catalog.

Since this is a bit used in connection with the LR32 (in fact is the most used LR32 bit) it should be open stock. When Festool USA discontinued offering most of their traditional router bits, they promised to stock all the LR32 special bits, as well as those for the MFK 700.
