**WARNING** UK Dealers To Avoid

I use the dealers that post here. They are engaged with us and have never had a issue with any order. There are some good ones here.

I've never used Dibranto; I generally buy from Axminster, Nuts & Bolts or (my local) Kernow Fixings.

A quick look at Dibranto's results raise some concerns; they lost over £500K last year.

If you want to see for your self, go tohttps://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk and enter Ideabright (their company name) and then click on "Filing history".

Very useful link Andrew - thanks for that!

Yes, I see you're right.  The impression they gave me was definitely one of a failing company.  When people start giving me the run-around, are evasive and keep giving empty promises, it generally makes me think (from long, hard experience)
they're stalling to hide financial issues.  I had the impression they were in trouble and about to fold, so were trying to hold onto my money without supplying the goods.  Which is why I acted fast to demand repayment.  If they're making such a huge loss it would explain why they have no stock - they'd have no funds to purchase it.  Quite likely they're on stop with suppliers over unpaid bills too, and therefore having trouble fulfilling orders from suckers like me, who believed the "in stock" listing.  [mad]

Fellas - to be fair, it doesn't look to me like Dibranto/ IdeaBright is a failing business !

They may be failing to deliver with their internet presence, but they had roughly $10,000,000 of revenue last year across their divisions.  I don't think an 8-10% loss is a sky is falling scenario. I'm guessing very little of that came from internet sales.

Looks like they re-structured a loan, laid off 40% of the workforce and will likely weather the storm.  From afar it seems they are in the real estate business as much as anything else.  The directors and company appear well capitalized also.

None of which translate into running a successful internet sales outlet.  I'm going to take a WAG and speculate that the internet div. was started and run by favorite son #1 who has been relieved of his directorship.  Read between the lines.

That too is perfectly possible antss.  All I know for sure is that based on how I was treated I don't trust Dibranto and won't ever be going back.  I'll stick to the likes of FFX, N&B, Healy's and Axminster - all of whom rock!  [cool]

Thought it was illegal in the uK to take a payment for a item that is NOT in stock .And they can only make a charge once they have received it etc ?

I know that shop very well.It use to be good. But expensive .Its rather like the dealer in Finchley .They would not get a penny off me these days for anything. Classic greed mentality

The dealer in Finchley as you so finely put it has the "classic greed mentality "
Steer well clear. They take the pi$$ with the prices every time.  Also have poor product knowledge and bad attitude towards repairs.

I too have had terrible customer service from this shop.

I dont live in that area ,but I was working about 10min drive down the road and needed some festool sanding discs mid day. A quick google search and boom a festool dealer down the road that I didnt know about.

A quick phone call before I left to check the products are in stock. Which went something like this:

Them "yep"
Me "Hi do you have ........ in stock"
Them "yea we do, bye"

This didn't fill me with confidence but off I went.

Well guess what, they didn't have them in stock and when I said someone on the phone told me they did they said I was lying and know one took my call.

I walked out and they couldn't have cared less!

As a rule, I would agree with jobsworth and Spiff on 'where to buy'; I went elsewhere because they claimed to stock, or have access to, a particular item when others didn't.

I should add that the company in question did not take any of my money - it was their attitude I found especially disconcerting.

timmyd79 mentions Finchley - are you meaning the same business discussed here, or alluding to a different one in another part of town?

I'm pretty sure that there is only 1 Festool dealer locally in Finchley.  You can't beat ffx and nuts and bolts for prices.  Had to pay  £50 for a 28 tooth ts55 blade in last week at "Daves".  Ffx on ebay deliver for free for £28.  Felt robbed when I checked online. That's 40% mark on up [scared]. Needed the blade so swallowed it. Never again.

The smaller dealer probably pays more to Festool for the same blade because he doesn't buy 50 at once.

"Daves" ....I have know these guys since they first set up. They are into a few types of business .lets say them and the Fulham shop have "something in common"  and thats why i wont spend any of my money with these guys .

There is a lot more going on  other than whats listed in "companies house " etc  [wink] [wink]
