The US/Canada generally operate under the same policies since they are under Festool USA. So, yes, in the US/Canada you are automatically covered under a full 3 year warranty with no extra steps required on your behalf.
Again, Festool USA is the TTS subsidiary that covers the US and Canada, so tools bought in those two countries would be serviced by Festool USA. As not to get to complicated I said "countries" whereas "TTS subsidiaries" may have been the more accurate term. I'm not sure if there are other subsidiaries that cover multiple countries...
Your tool would be covered regardless of whether you purchase in the US or Canada by Festool USA. We will not penalize the customer under the circumstances you describe. Edit: I should mention that this part of my statement is primarily in case someone reads this at some point in the future and the policies have been revised.
