When I purchased my tools a few weeks ago they said i could go online and register them to get the extended warranty.  I am unable to find the spot to do that.  Can some one point me in the correct direction.

They were wrong. Your dealer is responsible for registering your tools for you. Please send me a PM or email (sho@festoolusa.com) and I will contact the dealer to straighten out any misunderstanding on the registration process. There is currently no method for you to register your tool(s) online. However, I will be adding that capability to our website later this year.

Edit: Oh, and you get the full three year warranty automatically. In some other countries, Festool provides a one year warranty and customers must register their tools to receive an additional two years. Here, you get the full three without any action required on your part.

That's the way it should be, automatic 3 years.  Whats the idea of giving 1 year & saying, oh if you can be botherd to do it you can get an extra 2 years.  A bit of a con to me  [mad]

Us has it right.

I want to give a huge shout out to Shane and the rest of the festool guys in Indy. Your costumer support and speedy response is awesome. They even called to make sure I was happy.  My next tool purchase will defiantly be festool.

Thank you again.

What if you bought them on amazon?

Amazon is an exception. Due to their privacy policies, they do not share tool registration information with us. Proof of purchase will cover you should you have a need for warranty repair. I will be adding the capability to register your tools online to our website later this year as well.

Here there's also the option to fill in a form included in the package and send it to Festool. Doesn't Festool USA have this possibilty?

hi alex.
i just filled in that same form.
i will be posting it in half an hour!

i cant wait to get playing with this rotex 150 later this evening!

justin.

Quite frankly, Festool USA has the better system.  3 years as standard.  Why should it be up to us to send back the warranty card to get the extra 2 years.  I just think this is a stupid system  [mad]

Rant over.

I'm in the same boat as Harper_07. I ordered a CXS drill from Tools Plus and a jigsaw from Festool Products. I sent emails to both asking about the warranty. FP told me that they registered the product for me. TP told me to contact Festool USA. I'm waiting for a reply.

Hi,

Not sure what method of contact you used, but you can call Festool service (800-554-8741) , you will find them to be quite helpful  [smile]

Somewhat related question: Is the warranty valid world-wide or only in the country/region of purchase?

I've sent you a private message to assist with this. I will await your reply, thanks.

I'm not sure about the warranty in Sweden. Here, it would be valid in the country of purchase. I would recommend you contact Festool in Sweden for an answer.

In Sweden (and all of EU) I'm pretty sure warranty is EU-wide at least. I was mostly curious about the CXS that I just brought back from the US. I guess I'll just have to make sure I don't break it or take another trip to the US if it does break down. :)

Shane, I have two questions.

When you say in "other countries" that the extra two years is not standardly applied upon registration for US purchasers, is Canada one of those countries?  Or is Canada treated the same as the US.

Secondly, you mentioned the warranty is valid only in the country it is bought in.  While all my Festool has been bought in Canada, what if in the future I bought some Festool in the US and brought it back to Canada.  Would that US bought tool be warrantied for service in Canada, or would I have to take it to a US retailer for service?

Actually that begs a third question.  If I buy a Festool tool in the US thru a retailer that normally registers the tools brought thru him/her for his/her customers with Festool, do they still do it knowing I'm a resident of Canada, or are they somehow restricted from doing so?

Kevin,

The US/Canada generally operate under the same policies since they are under Festool USA. So, yes, in the US/Canada you are automatically covered under a full 3 year warranty with no extra steps required on your behalf.

Again, Festool USA is the TTS subsidiary that covers the US and Canada, so tools bought in those two countries would be serviced by Festool USA. As not to get to complicated I said "countries" whereas "TTS subsidiaries" may have been the more accurate term. I'm not sure if there are other subsidiaries that cover multiple countries...

Your tool would be covered regardless of whether you purchase in the US or Canada by Festool USA. We will not penalize the customer under the circumstances you describe. Edit: I should mention that this part of my statement is primarily in case someone reads this at some point in the future and the policies have been revised.

I am providing information to the best of my knowledge and the time this is written. Warranty terms are subject to change and you should consult your tool manual for complete warranty details and terms.
