WAS NOT GOING TO BE A PROJECT ( apple press )

My son needed a new (plate) to put on the end of a screw for an apple press. The one that came with it was cracked. I am now thinking a 50 ton bottle jack with a steel plate 4" thick. Anyone have input. All must be sanitary. stainless steel, aluminum etc. PS: The oak cracked at the back side of the domino's.  Thanks, MARK

That stamped sheet metal interface between the ram and the wood disk is inadequate. You just need to spread the force over a larger area and then the wood disk will survive.
