WCR and Sys stacking

Had some time today between putting together proposals to clean up my tool room and organize. It reminded my that I don't use my WCR enough but I also know why. Most of the time it just isn't convenient to have the WCR on top of my CT. Unless I buy another CT I can't leave the WCR on top of the CT. While moving stuff around I set the WCR on top of a Sys stack which is on top of the Sys dolly. So Bingo, I thought why not just leave it mounted on top of the Sys stack that will work for me.
The tabs and size all line up perfect of course. Unfortunately the latches are too short but not by much.
So I have a few questions ... has anyone else mounted a WCR on a Sys stack, how did you do it, did no modify the latches or the tabs, was it still stable, does Tanos have longer tabs?
I guess I could dedicate a Sys 1 for the cause and just bolt the WCR to a Sys 1 and then latch the Sys 1 to the rest of the stack normally. Any ideas?

i would use stack of sortainers so that you woulnt have to keep taking it off. or make a pre seperator and sit the WRC on top

I have a 4-drawer Sortainer on my CT-22 with the WCR-1000 on top of that.  Love it.  One drawer for Centrotec driver bits, one for pliers, dykes, needle-nose, etc, one for tadpole sanding profiles, bit one is partitioned into 3 for Centrotec drill bits, Centrotec chucks for the drills on the WCR, and some accessories in the third.

I agree with Alan that putting a WCR on Systainers you want to open often will become a nuisance quickly.

I have 20+ systainers so putting the WCR on top of a couple that don't get opened very often isn't a problem. Some Sys I use daily, others only get used for specific tasks. I also already have a sysport cart, have thought about getting another one though. I like sortainers but only have one because I am unwilling to pay the price for them. A little cheaper or on sale and I'd buy a bunch of them.
My primary issue at this point is that the latches from a Sys don't reach to lock the WCR onto a Systainer. Is this only my problem or others as well?

if you were in the UK you would also have the option of placing the WCR on top of this:

I can't be the only one who would buy that.
Thanks for rubbing it in Greg. Another NAINA product we aren't worthy of.  [dead horse]. This can't be a UL issue?
HEY FESTOOL how about packing a few dozen into the next container and shipping them over here, along with some other products.
From Festool: Hello, Festoolians a limited quantity of X are available as a summer special. First come, first serve.
This would allow Festool to gauge market demand without any great big investment, increase sales and provide us with some goodies.
Imagine rolling into a jobsite with a CT stacked with Systainers and that cart with a WCR. Talk about being a jobsite superstar.

Wow that is nice I would buy one of those in an instant, come on Festool.

I thought the same thing until I saw what it is selling for in Europe.  There's one on Ebay NL right now for 323.30 Euros, that's $432 USD. [eek]

Kevin's got my back! :)  I wasn't following this thread too closely before... nasty deadline at work and all.  Mea culpa...

Anyway, the gist of the solution is to make a frame that snugs over the Systainer.  In my case, you can see it on my Sortainer on the CT-22 (the WCR cannot attach to the CT-22 without the optional hose garage that is now built-in on CT-26/36s).  In that frame, I have a panel I covered in cork.  I actually had that long before the WCR and mounted it on the Systainer for vacuum accessories.  I used it as a 'landing pad' so I could put whichever tool is attached to the CT on the pad and easily move the CT around or at least not clothesline myself on the hose.  Anyway, when I got the WCR, I simply screwed it to that landing pad and placed it on the Systainer... that I eventually swapped for a Sortainer and it is hugely more useful that way (and gets the WCR shelves to a height I prefer).

The frame has two felt spots per side, which makes it snug up nicely to the Sys/Sortainer.  Other benefit is that the frame is about 1.5" wide on the side so I've attached a small magnetic tool strip to hold a pair of small double-squares, a cord hook on the back to hold an extra Plug-It cord, a post to hang a bench brush, and hold up the ever important "Monkeys at Play" sign.

You can see that in my WCR review.

And now sadly back to my deadline :)  missing my shop these days...
