About a year ago I purchased a Wera screwdriver that has various bits that are stored in popup handle end that are magnetically held in the driver. Now I know I'm not the strongest guy and I'm pushing 70, but, with some of the bits I need to use a pair of pliers to remove the bits. Any hints to help with this welcome.

Hi, i feel your pain ,I don't have the wera but have several festool twin boxes. I flipped over the bits and used the bit adaptor to flip them out. Maybe the adaptor on the wera will fit in the space provided.

Maybe something to form a slight barrier? It might reduce the power, of the magnetism, just enough.
I'm thinking the little waste pieces from a hole punch? A few pieces of paper or cork?

Just putting it out there: could a (de)magnetizer work to dial down the ‘attraction’?
Not really. They are intended to remove the residual magnetism from steel pieces, that have been stuck to a magnet. It wouldn't do anything to permanent magnet.
