As many of you know, the FOG was partially down yesterday. You could read the forum, but you couldn't post/reply. Thanks for your patience while fixed things. Also, thanks to [member=50814]ScottW[/member] for dropping his other work to spend much of the day (and night) getting the FOG back online.

Keep on FOGging.

Thanks for getting it back up [member=57769]TylerC[/member] Yeah, I tried all sorts of fixes, like clearing my browser cache and cookies several times, before I realized it wasn't me.

Yeh - I tried making sure there were no cookies left too .. didn't change anything and I just felt sick afterwards.

Thanks Scott for fixing it, and also to Tyler who personally replied to my post on Festool USA's website.

Thanks for fixing guys - appreciated.
Hope it wasn't somehow my fault...
Composed a reply - then told had timed out; but shouldn't have  [unsure] - and that was that.

(Edit:  forgot to write, was unable to log out.  Cleared caches, web history etc, deep scans for malware etc - didn't seem to help)

THANKS!

I noticed yesterday during the outage that Paul Marcel was on the online users list... have not heard from him in a while, let's hope he comes back soon! Great videos and info from Paul.

Was it just me with bad mobile coverage today or was the forum down again?

It was down again. A different issue this time.

The FOG is built on an old platform that doesn't offer technical support. Therefore, when it goes down, we have to identify and solve the problems ourselves. We've been talking about moving the FOG to a different, more modern platform with better technical support. The plan was to do that next year, but -- given that the FOG has been down twice this week -- we'll accelerate that plan if we need to. Thanks for everyone's patience this week.

(And in case anyone is worried: No, we will only not delete existing content when/if we switch platforms.)

I think that would be a prudent investment. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Current platform's just fine, this is one of the most stable websites I visit. Pleasant to use and good looking.

But the lack of support for the people who need to fix it when it goes down is obviously a disadvantage. Also, it is lacking a few modern forum features that would be nice IMO, such as the ability to like or up-vote/down-vote posts. Members to build reputation points, etc.

It's usually fairly stable, but being down twice this week isn't promising (or helpful for my stress level).

Mobile friendliness will be a major consideration in where we go.

I am all for mobile friendliness. But it also needs to maintain it's computer friendliness.

Most definitely. FWIW, we're still very early in this. No solid plans yet.

FWIW... [member=57769]TylerC[/member],
Over the last several days, including my latest post with a photo that was about 10 minutes ago, I can post text ONLY when using a MacBook Pro, iPad Air or iPhone. If I try to post a photo along with the text, the post will not go through and the screen goes blank when I hit the post button and it will never refresh.

The only success I've had is to post in text only, and then go back and modify the post to include a photo. This works the same on all 3 devices. This has just started within the last 5-7 days.

These features have been discussed before and dismissed by a number of responders as they can lead to high levels of angst and members only posting to be popular.
