I thought I would post some pictures of this project as it was unique and rather large!  

My festool trion makes easy work of cutting 4x6 decorative ends!  Love it, I used to use my bosch and then take a belt sander and square it out.

A 1/2 stainless steel threaded rod goes down into the concrete all the way up to the top plate and cedar then tightened from the top to compress the column to the patio, It is extremely sturdy.  The 4x6 first layer frame also adds a lot of strength, there are 10" lag bolts going through to make a solid square.  The posts are 12" and also help with stability and a large foot print.

When I didn't see any anchors in the concrete, I figured it was something like that. Columns are wood or fiberglass ? Did you do the porch also?

I really like this concept for a ground level addition.  I provides shade, but, does not darken the interior rooms.

Beautiful design and excellent workmanship!

I like the copper tops for the columns to protect them from water intrusion.

There should never be an issue with lateral racking so long as the owner doesn't cover any of the sides with something that catches wind.

Nice work, hopefully they let the copper Patina, love that look, especially on top of those white columns!!  Spring is just around the corner!  Says the guy who has to go shovel a foot of snow.  [mad]
