What a difference a Boom Arm makes

Originally I was looking to buy the handle to push my CTL 26 around, and the nozzle holder for various accessories. I was making a big purchase of Festool stuff with a good discount, and since both of these come with the boom arm I thought I should get the boom arm instead, even if I don't need it*

Now that I have the boom arm I can't see myself being without it. It's like having electric window openers or automatic transmission on your car: you can get by without it, but once you have them there is no going back. An added minor bonus is the 1m section of 50mm hose that comes with the boom arm, I always have this attached to the vac regarless of if I'm using the boom arm or not, realy nice to have that extra 1m reach.

* What I actually need seems to be of little relevance when I buy stuff from Festool  [big grin]

That's no poor man's Boom Arm -- that's a poor man's Suction Hose Holder.    [tongue]

Speed, you need a t-shirt that says "I bought a kapex and stand and all I got was this lousy piece of wood"

Speed,

That's hilarious!

I guess that's poor man's duct tape as well?

yeah masking tape [smile] its not even a new piece of timber either [sad] sadly i cant see festool developing it further and bringing it to the market

that suction hose holder would be perfect for what i need, i wonder if i can retro fit it to the mini? i dont really need a full blown boom arm as i have to pack up my kit everyday

Haahaa Comedy!

As if you even went to that extend lol!

Radiator pipes running in front of the skirting Nice!  I hate it when pipes do da just makes it awkward to fit your skirting and looks poo lol!

The Foam gun in the window  looks like you have a Foam Can on it not sure  or does it have dryfix on it? Cus im sure that is a dryfix gun not a foam gun but I have looked around and found it being called a Foam gun

Same as yours? DryFix gun
Another Link to the DryFix Gun

I have never used this Fast Cure Dry Wall Adhesive  so im wondering if your gun is the same as the links above I wonder if I can just buy the Fast Cure Dry Wall Adhesive and stick it on my Foam gun instead of buying the DryfixGun.

I have tried many types of foam guns most of them costing £25 quid but the best one I have used was the cheapest one   I payed £9 for mine  I bought another 2 after a week cus I thought it was very good value.   I only have 2 left now I would of still have all 3 BUT I dropped a work top on one of them.    Im glad I bought 3!   I just had a look on Ironmongery which is where I bought my 3 guns from and it has gone up in price!    £14+vat   [eek] Still cheaper than most.

My Foam Gun TEFLON

yeah nice pipes lol i used 7" skirting and plan on making a rad cover and i will beable to make a small pipe box and still have the molding showing.

man youve got good eyes yeah its same as the dryfix gun but it didnt come in a dryfix box but its still made by everbuild

bottom of the page

it has everbuild foam in it, from what ive seen of a plasterer using board foam is its the same cans as normal foam so any gun will work

I thought it was!  yeah  [eek] super eyes! lol    £22 quid for that gun! You could get the Teflon one and the money you save can go to a new piece of wood for your boom arm! you see you just aint spending your money in the right places lol!  [tongue]    The Bond it Teflon gun is cheaper and it is good.

Sound!  I wasnt sure but I couldnt see why I wouldnt be able to use Dryfix can on my gun but I didnt want to clog my foam gun up cus maybe it was thicker or something and seen as my foam gun has gone up in price I dont wanna buy another one lol!

Oh I c so instead of running the skirting in front of the pipes and capping the top off  your going to run it along the wall and then have lower boxing infront  different.

I just read the Spec on the    Dryfix!    [crying]

EVERBULD PINKGRIP DRY FIX is a revolutionary new type of fast curing adhesive foam that has been specially developed for the rapid installation of Plasterboard, Insulation Boards and other such materials such as Roof Decking and Floorboards.
Supplied in a pressurised canister Pinkgrip Dry Fix is applied with an applicator gun that has been specially manufactured to offer optimum adhesive extrusion rate and compatibility with the special “safety” type of valve used on the canister.
Note: Pinkgrip Dry Fix must only be applied using the Pinkgrip Dry Fix Applicator Gun, ordinary Foam Guns must not be used.

yeah £22 [crying] mine broke and needed another one quick and that was the closest place.

mine looks identical to the dryfix but sold as a foam gun.. does this mean i can use both? confused.

It took me several years to get one, but I haven't regretted it since. The only annoyance is sometimes the power cable gets caught under the stabilizing bars- as has been previously discussed on the FOG the North American power cable is thicker than elsewhere and less flexible, and tends to fall off the storage brackets on the CT vacs.

But it's a very useful accessory and has even saved my TS 55 from a nasty fall off the MFT when I knocked it off and the boom arm stopped it from hitting the floor.

FYI, it took a few weeks for the boom arm to loosen up a little and fully rotate. At first I though there was a limit to the range of rotation, but not so.

Richard.

I have another annoyance with the power cable, it gets stuck under the wheels of my CT Mini when I push the vac backwards. I added a bracket to push the cable. There are molded in holes in the tub (flanking the handle area) that barely accept #10 sheet metal screws. I used 1/8" steel angle and 3/4" screws. To make sure the screw didn't strip out I clipped off the tip.

Yeah me 2 lol!

I see your gun more often as Dryfix on the internet but like your site you linked and some others its sold as Foam gun BUT on Everbuilds web site your gun does not exist as a Foam gun only as Dryfix gun.

Ummmmmm I dont know!

I would be worried when placing the the Vac down  making sure its not tilting back as da bracket could cause damage to the floor when placing it down no with them hard metal corners being close to the floor.

The CTs have a hole in them that the suction tube holder fits into -- so the CT was designed with this accessory in mind.

Good point!
I didn't think of that.
But maybe I did sub-consciously
when I rounded all the edges and corners...

I might glue some rubber to the bottom but then there could be too much stress on the plastic screw holes. I'd have to brace the bracket using some of the other unused screw holes in the very bottom of the tub.
