Well here in case someone doesn't know yet.

I paint the interior (like the door openings) of these trucks. The area where a robot couldn't reach. Kinda like when you paint your house, you don't try to force the roller in the corner, you have a smaller brush with less paint on it to blend it in.

Rob, my secretary has a Tundra - got it just before last winter in NE Ohio, and loves it.  Her other car is a Cadillac CTS which she also likes.  Too bad I cannot see the interior or you at work painting.  I cannot get any videos to work in Mozilla FireFox 3.  Downloaded the adobe flash player numerous times and rebooted, etc., but nothing seems to change for the better.  FireFox 3 does load the rest of FOG and most non-video links much faster than IE on my VISTA OS laptop.

I have a dvd they give us one Christmas where they filmed the paint shop, and you got to see the whole shop at work. I didn't make the cut, but it is a nice video. At the time the only people that had seen the paint shop was paint employees, the rest of the plant was, and still is, not allowed in there. I would upload it so some people could see it if I knew how, and I didn't get the firefox download either. All I know about firefox is its free. You can tell your secretary when she opens her door that all the painted metal in there was done by hand.

I work in the stamping department for a Honda supplier.  Basically I inspect and pack about 4,000 parts a day and try to keep the 1800 ton press running.

I'm a Financial Advisor, helping people have the right amount of money, in the right hands, at the right time.  This doesn't always work for me when I start drooling over more Festools.  I find exercising self-control and restraint are the only solution.

Woodworking is a very serious hobby; I was "volunteered" to be the general contractor and chief cabinet maker for our Elks Lodge after we downsized to a smaller old building.  I oversaw the complete renovation of the building - insullation, new windows and doors, new floorplan, HVAC, Electrical and plumbing.  I am in the process of the final aspect of the project, a 17' long bar made with donated ash lumber which was rough sawn in 1978.  Needless to say, I don't have any "spare" time.

I dont post here much ( I think like three post) but I always enjoy reading what others choose to do in there day to day; Im a finish/trim carpenter in the south west bay area. I do all kinds of things but generally I move my stuff into the houses after the framing crews leave. I do some of the pick up work that they dont do, building skylights, arches, curved work, fireplaces etc.
After that, I usually start trimming out the houses and depending on the size I may be at work for 2-6 months. We do everything; door install, windows, wainscot, base, crown (single peice and multiple peice), false beams and the ocassional built in cabinet. Right now were shingling a house. Its a good job, but like anything else it has its moments where you curse what you do to the end of the earth.... but all in all, its fun.

I design and install (and program and service) high end residential integrated home electronics systems.

i.e. I get paid to play w/ stereos.

;D

I think it's time for me to introduce myself a bit more ;D

I moved to Canada 6 years ago from Germany were I was working for www.unicat.net
Anyhow, now I'm living in Victoria, British Columbia and a proud business owner ;D
My user name already states my "mission" , building eco friendly, sustainable furniture. www.ecofurniture.ca

I'm still in the same shop were I started out, only 500sqft and I have maxed out every inch... I was looking for a bigger shop for quite a while but without any luck--drives me nuts!
In January I will be hiring my first full time employee and are super excited! I will finally have more time to drum up more business and find more retailers that are willing to carry our products.

Today I took a short video of my shop you are more than welcome to watch! I'm sorry about the quality of the clip... It's just cheap camera ;)

Cheers,
Andreas

I've worked in and around the newspaper industry for the last 28 years. The last 5 I've been self-employed, working with newspapers to evolve more quickly to meet advertisers needs. I'm 52 and have 3 kids still working their way through college (1 graduated),so i can't quite quit anything just yet. Do woodworking completely as a hobby.

Me..., I spend my days installing, maintaining, repairing and, on occasion writting, computer operating system software for mainframes and, again on occasion, PC's.  I even write articles on these things for in-house consumption.  I tried on numerous occasions over the years to change careers but it never "took", I kept coming back.  :-\

I teach American and World History at the high school level.  I used to coach football and tennis as well but this year is the first year I won't be doing either sport.  In comparison to the money that I make doing woodworking, I end up losing money when I coach.  It's really too bad since there's such an opportunity to have an influence on the kids on the field/court.  However, we have 3 little kids and outside of being the greatest mother in the world my wife doesn't work outside of the home so we are completely dependent on what I bring in.

I'm a carpenter. I (usually) get to play with my Festools every day!  Lately though, things are slow.  I trim houses, build cabinets, and I'm just getting into building furniture.  You can find my work here: www.miruscustomcabinetry.com
The site actually just got put up today, so I'm pretty excited about that.  Unfortunately, it isn't looking right on Firefox at the moment, so please check it out on Safari or Internet Explorer.
There are more pages of it coming soon.

I design computer networks, specifically to support voice (phones, ie VoIP) and call center applications.  I travel quite a bit, and generally put in 80+ hours a week.  Essentially, I stare at a computer screen and long to be in the workshop.

I devote 40  hours a week to the Film industry, coach my daughters hockey team, play hockey on two seperate teams, ski with my wife and kids, hike, camp and sell Festool's on the side.

Every now and then I sleep ;D.

I'm an engineering consultant working for a multinational.  I design and built water treatment plants.  I get to travel all over the world, which was great when my age started with a 2.  Now that I have a kid, I get to stay around home (Toronto) more, thus I have been able to get more into my neglected hobbies (piano, woodworking) [when the kid and wife let me].
