What do you use for cabinet hardware layout?

I've used this for years - it's durable and simple and secure.

Who needs a ruler to setup - on doors, the aluminum portion of the jig is wide enough that you can simply set it so that it is visually centered and go.

Has worked great for me.

Drawers are bit more of a pain as they are mostly not matching sizes.

Takes a 3/16" drill bit.

Making jobsite jigs takes longer and are definitely not as secure as this jig as it hugs the door very tightly.

Well Bob, I did not wait and ordered the True Position Drill Guide. And have used it once so far on 3 inch drawer pulls.

The drawers where 18x36 inch panels and it maxed the jig out. Spacings came out perfect for two drawer pulls per drawer front with the stop set.

I also did various other size drawer fronts and found it to be fast to measure divide by 2 and set then place the jig and drill.

I will be ordering a 5mm bit from Festool to use with the ?fastfix? system in place of the bit Precision Caswerk sent. Hopefully the Festool bit has less tare out on exit.

Mishle, sorry for not posting my feedback on the True Position!  I just put it to work yesterday on a small vanity install. It worked like a charm and I did use the Festool 5mm bit...very nice clean hole on the exit!  I also used it to place few holes in the cabinet that needed to be spaced  32mm apart...worked flawlessly!  I really like this jig and highly recommend it!

Sal...it was totally worth the expense...so long as you're drilling enough holes to make it worth it!  For hardware drilling, I'm not a big fan of always having to make jobsite hardware jigs for this task. I install a lot of kitchens and my time savings will be recovered quickly!

When we meet up @ Tool Nut, I'll show it to you!

Bob, Festool has more than one 5 mm drill bit which one did you use?

I use the one made by Hettich. Its expensive but great quality and very percise. I wouldn't think of using anything else.

I use these three jig's I made for fitting European cup hinges.

Just line up the centre line, quick tap with a hammer job done. The one on the left is for the cup on the door, and the other two are for the screw positions, on the right for lay on doors, centre for inset.

This is fine for my set up, as I'm only doing perhaps a dozen hinges at a time....Hmmm I think the one on the right has seen better days, but its about 15yrs old.
