Hi Everyone. Looking to purchase a new phenolic router plate and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what type or drill bit to use to countersink holes for the router mounting screws.

I used pan-head machine screws and counterbored a larger hole to accommodate the head.

a zero flute countersink works the best for me.
Never heard of a zero flute countersink. Would you have a picture of name brand I can search?

Thanks for your advice. Does phenolic material drill like hardwood or metal?

I would say it is similar to drilling acrylic, but much much harder and be careful with the smell and the break-out on the far side. My router plate was done with a drill press.

If you want a flat bottom recess you need an appropriately sized counter bore and replaceable pilot; MSC or Fastenal will have one that will be perfect.

the fun and very hot days of working on elevators in a nuclear radiation buffer zone. i laugh every time i see it. it reminds me of how much i never want to to it again. 4 pairs of gloves, 3 types of foot protection and about 15 feet of masking tape.

So I have to ask…..any Limitorque actuators in the nuclear radiation zone?

just the old standard hydraulic elevators that were installed during the 50's. we changed out the jacks for safety reasons. fun part was having to disassemble the whole car and remove it from the hoistway. turned a normal 1 week job to a 4 week job, but what would you expect from the government.
