Again, worldwide entry's accepted.  As soon as I see a thread with another competition I gloss past it.

Same here.
i also pass over all those treads.
Same here.

The winners of the 2 international comps were from.????? USA?

thats proably because of the higher percentage of us members able to enter.
i dont mind that.
id be happy to be just able to enter

I voted for more multiple prizes rather then one uberprize and a festool training class.

A suggestion:

Be able to spend some time say 4 hrs with the local festool rep getting one on one instruction on your favorite(s) festools.

It could even be how to use the festools  to their fullest or maxium potential on a particular project.

believe that we festool fans only use about 30% of a tools potential. Im always interested in new jigs, methods etc…

Thanks for all of the feedback so far, keep it coming. And, for taking the time to cast your vote.

I'll look into making the next contest international again. But the participation needs to be there from our international members to make it worthwhile to do that.  [wink]

I like the idea of Festool Training classes, education is empowerment and learning new or better ways to utilize OUR Festools and the money we spent on them seems like a win win situation to me. I also like the Festool bucks idea as it allows the winner to acquire a specific item that will be most useful to them. Another idea might be to offer refurbished tools as prizes, this might help offset the cost on Festools end, and potentially allow them to offer even more prizes or contests.

I like the idea of Festool bucks for whatever the winner(s) need and therefore would like to spend on.  It would be even more interesting with the option to spend the bucks on an individual end-user training class or week series of classes with the added bonus that Festool USA contact the grand winner a few days in advance of making the class schedule public.  That would be a prize in itself to have first dibs on scheduling for whatever, wherever, and whenever since the classes fill up in less than an hour typically.  It would make it even more grand to offer both Festool bucks for tools AND an end-user training class to the grand prize winner.

Great idea Corey.

I think multiple smaller prizes is nicer as it increases the odds of getting something for the effort.  Random winner selection is nicer, too, since someone seeing a nice entry by someone else might not make an entry thinking theirs won't be better; with a random drawing, it levels the field... it also can allow for uninspired entries for the sake of an entry, but I don't think we've seen much of that at all here.  Carefully crafting the rules can also make that more difficult.

Problem with smaller prizes is which to make available?  I like the Festool Dollars idea since I wouldn't want to win a TS-55 panther blade when I don't have a TS-55 or an FS-800 guide rail when I already have one.

Something like tee shirts for all entrants can greatly increase participation, I think. In that way, nobody loses and certainly the advertising of the shirts on job sites or -ahem- videos can't be bad.  Maybe even a custom shirt à la CafePress that calls out the contest.

I like the idea of random selection if there is more than one prize being offered.  I'd like to see the grand prize winner be selected on merit.  I feel like there should be just reward for someone willing to go all out with their entry.  Let the rest of the prize(s) be awarded by random.

I also like the free t-shirt thing too.  Maybe ever make that retroactive for past judges. [tongue]

I don't know if this is even possible or would be considered, but what if there was a drawing for a tool or accessory each month that is open to everyone.  After the 12 winners have been selected, an additional contest is held for these winners.  They have 30-60 days to do a project, whether there own design or something (theme) choosen by a panel of moderators or dealers from the FOG (Shane would be the ring leader).  Sort of like March Madness for those in the US.  After everything is submitted, FOG members would vote and then the panel would select the grand prize winner from the top 3 vote getters.  The top 3 would get Festool bucks for a new tool or class.  Example of prize breakdown.

1st place - $1500
2nd place - $750
3rd place - $500

I forgot to mention in my previous post, the 9 people that don't qualify for the grand prize would get a small something like a Festool T-shirt, or something similar.

International participation, got it.  [wink]

I'm working on it already.

Wooden Skye, wow... that's involved. [eek] Not sure we can pull off something quite that extravagant. I'm going to try to make sure prizes make participation worthwhile. That's why I posted this thread.

Shane, another thing to be mindful off if you do run another international competition.  As has been stated earlier, both international comps were won by American entrants !  Really !!

I think if this happened again then it would probably be the end of international competitions, certainly for me.

That's already been noted and I'm working on having guaranteed prizes for international members. [wink]

I know that my idea was involved and probably far fetched.  I just think that if offering a Kapex and CT, or a domino and CT as was the case with recent sweepstakes, doesn't garner a lot of interest or participation, then how epic of a prize do you need?  Maybe the epic prize should be a North America and international $5000 shopping spree at Festool USA or in Germany for the not in north America contingent, immediately followed by one of the classes.

now that would be very interesting. Also maybe being able to choose from a range of similar valued items. As we probably would all be interested in different things. So a choice even if small would be nice.

I just hope I'll be able to participate.
