I'm less interested in one big prize, unless i win it of course
I like the idea of smaller "door prizes" for people that don't win first prize. t shirts, rulers etc
Limit participation to one person/household per contest. you loose web page hits but, if someone has entered the same contest 20 times in a month what tangible benefit does corporate get after the first entry?
Offer alternative 1st prizes. for example if someone already has a domino and wins one, give the winner credit towards another festool item.
It really depends what you want out of your contests. converting non festool users, or just to generate interest and web page hits?
Frankly the most difficult first step of getting into the system is that first vacuum/tool buy. getting vacs out into the market place is a good thing.
sponsor online contests of things that were built by users, also local guild/club shows. For example this month the eastern mass guild of woodworkers has a show in conjunction with a gallery. wood craft gave us some prizes.
