What Festool Did You buy Today?

It's that clear perspex jig that is used for edge work. Also called the 'trenching template'https://www.festool.com.au/trenching-template-for-of-2200-of-1400-of-1010-495246.html

Thanks! But, ouch. I remember this jig and think someone made their own?

Yeah, I made mine from some off-cuts from a project and some barrel nuts from Amazon. Maybe $10 in materials, since I had access to the acrylic, and just a few minutes with the Shaper Origin.
Acrylic that thick is expensive, but come on.....$400? really? There is nothing magic about this and I don't really understand the addition of a dust extraction point, since there is already one on the router itself.

Having sold my “old” CXS 10,8 a while back, I found an incredible good pricing on the new CXS 12 2,5-SET so I ordered it along with the Wera calendars for my sons.

Hope it’s going to be of much more use than the old. I’ve kept grabbing the two Makita CXT’s one with regular chuck and the other with hex bit holder. Time will tell.

added a full sized Kapex with Ug Stand and wings and have a 125 ETS on the way.  Can't have enough.

I grabbed the Festool 500312 CT Wings Extra Hand. I had a few dollars left on an Amazon gift card and ordered it through my favorite US Festool Dealer- Hartville Hardware.
I plan to use it on an upcoming crown and chair rail job I have.

Finally after selling my 40-odd year old Rotex I snagged one this week when the store had $200 off! I was blown away with just how good the RO90 is, so I'm really excited to use this one!

I forgot to post this, but about two weeks ago, I picked up a (barely touched) DF500 to add to my shop which will be a lot more convenient for the smaller Dominos than my DF700 with the Seneca adapter. The fellow who owned it probably made a dozen mortises, if that, and it's "pristine". 'Came with the Domino assortment Systainer and all cutter sizes, too...all for about the price of a new bare tool. I did a little reorganization of all my Domino stock the other day, combining things across the four Systainers I now have. (I buy 750mm sticks for large sizes anyway, but having the existing pre-cut better organized isn't a terrible thing.

I picked up a never used OF2200 with accessory kit for a great price. Owner had it as a backup and never needed it. It is in the old style sustainer but the tool works the same.

I can’t believe how you can run this at full speed on a flat workbench and it doesn’t move at all. I bought one of these just before COVID and the size actually shocked me. I remember thinking it was more of a machine than a hand tool. I sold it because the OF2200’s new were OOS during COVID and used carried a very attractive price. But I’ve missed not having this in my arsenal. So I’m happy now.

Just who buys an OF2200 and never gets round to using it? Did the guy also have a Lamborghini he never got round to driving?

Agreed. Though I could possibly see it in a cabinet shop, especially if they really depended on it. Having a back-up just makes sense, but to that end, they would never sell it. Then the only way it would ever hit the pre-owned market is if they went out of business.

OK - maybe you guys need pictures.

I did talk a few times with the seller and he was very familiar with Festools and especially routers. I have no reason to doubt this was just sitting under his procession. Think he was a member here years ago and retired I think about 7 years ago?

He told me and I notice on the depth rod what looks like pitting (see last photo). The indicator can still move but is there a way to remove this pin to clean it up? Looks like it has a knurled end and is press fit. Other than that this looks perfectly new.

Wow that must be one of the earlier OF 2200's, still being in a Classic Systainer.

Did you look in EKAT to see how that part is assembled?

A new Festool FS-bag # 466357. I have the old style bag that fits 2x1400mm and has a side pocket for 800mm rails but I now own two more 1400 rails so need another bag. I've been eyeing the Makita bag, which is more of a cushion, but it eats 100mm more length and doesn't sit right with my slight OCD. Anyway, I found someone within 45 minute bicycle ride (two way) selling one unused for a good price.

The Festool routing aid dropped enough below $400 that I pushed the buy button. It was here last night when I got home from work. It's not going to get used a lot but I know I'll appreciate it when need arises.

darn! I missed this. How much below?
I keep getting tempted to pick this up but then can't stomach the price when I go to it.

Possibly for deeper grooves like door lock mortises? The upper extraction may not have enough suction when the bit is buried deep in the wood?

I don't usually talk about what I buy but this was kind of exciting. It was an impulse buy and I know I don't NEED it.
But I've been hankering after it for a while. And it seems like it may be discontinued? So I finally pulled the trigger.
Unfortunately I won't get to fire it up right away. I can't wait to see how it goes compared to a router.

I'm after this one myself when it's on a promotion next! Whitehill also make some really nice panel grooving cutters to suit the Festool attachment that would be really groovy to get! ;-)

Ages ago when I considered getting the routing aid, it was $250 and I still couldn't talk myself into it. Instead, I bought a second edge guide. Put the router midway through the guide rods and put an edge guide on either side. Worked well for me installing some deep commercial door hardware atop a ladder while my drunk neighbor held the door. Easy enough to add a wider fence on each edge guide, too (what I did for that door), which was helpful as the mortises were 3" deep 1/8" from the edge.

I got one of the new 1400 rails with the sticky slots from Hartville on EBay.

I did the same thing, for my OF1010, probably on your advice from a video. It was so long ago, that I don't remember where the idea came from. I think it was before I ever even owned one, old memory stored for later use.

I don't see how it could be better? Though I have never seen the Festool version in person.
The extraction port on the OF1400 is right there over the bit and works very well.

Thats right! Fantastic idea! I think you posted about that. I'll have to file that away for future reference. I've been spending like crazy lately and need to slow down temporarily.

Dunno. On my Makita and Milwaukee routers the DC doesn't seem to pull as well from above the base when the bit is deep. Say an inch or more. The Festool may be better, I haven't ran anything deep on them yet.
Looks like the extra port gives better access to the entire groove.
