What Festool Did You buy Today?

Kitting out with the MFK700.  Originally grabbed the 1.5+vert set, now I'm grabbing the trim base (from EQ/B).  The feeler guide for the horizontal bases though... that design is such a PITA.  No one made a microadjust or quick attach for that thing did they?
It's just two cheese head screws. What am I missing?

Nah, just me trying to use it with a roundover like Amana's no file.  Trying to dial it in was annoying so I just gave up.  Having to cheese it every time I swapped bits also gave me anxiety on losing them somewhere in the workshop.

That's the best reason for one of those magnetic trays. I use mine every time I swap copy rings of the chip catcher on my OF1010. For me the annoying part is having to change drivers. I just don't get the slotted screw thing?

Yours is still the slotted screw?  Mine (newer) seems to be some random torx bit that I need to dig out of my kit every time.  I'm tempted to follow ElectricFeet's move and make a magnetic version for that.

As for the follower, I just read that they added two tapped holes for storing the screws... and lo-behold, it does.  Funny they did that.

Well, I finally did it I ordered my first Festool product today: the Festool TS 60 KEBQ-F-Plus-FS US. Can’t wait to get my hands on it later this week!

About a month ago I went to a dealer and got a whole bunch of tools… but then had a moment of post purchase clarity and returned it all.

I’m taking it slower and just learning how to use one tool at a time.

The slotted screws are for the copy ring attachment. They are pan head type screws, that allow the copy rings to be centered. The normal plastic reducer or chip collector use flat head type screws that are self-centering. They are T-15 or maybe T-20? I don't mind the difference in the screw head types, it's the driver that bugs me. Why are they not the same? Just one driver required.

Got an ETS125 with free systainer full of Granat sandpaper, pretty good deal really.
It goes with the Rotex125 and DTS400.  I think I've got enough sanders now.

Its a great machine, so much easier to use than fighting with the Rotex.  Mind you, it does spin at twice the speed with a smaller orbit than the Rotex.

My OF1400 says it's lonely.

Regards
Bob

But you still need an LS130 and an RS2E surely? ;-)

Received my domino 500 today. Went with the limited edition kit.  I had decided I would need the 700, but I have a use case for both, and I’m selling my time, so I’ll pick one up when the next job calls for it.

I did the same thing.  Got the DF500 first and then when I had a specific use case for the DF700 I picked one up.  BTW, you will love the DF500, great, great tool. Enjoy!

Ordered Festool TID Impact Driver + HKC Cordless Circular Saw/Track Saw Combo Kit. Rockler had it $100 off and 40% clerance coupon. Couldn't pass it up

I don't think I could use the words "enough" and "sanders" in a sentence without also first using the word "not".

Exactly. Even with all that I have, if an LS130 came along, I'd give it a home.

I'm fortunate enough to have an LS130, heck .. I've even got a BS105 with the floating frame [big grin]

What I would have grabbed had I known it'd become extinct is the RAS180. Abrasives and backing pads are still available here. With P24 I could probably use it instead of a chainsaw!

Same here! I'd love a RAS. That BS105 with the frame though, what a sensational tool that is. I absolutely love any chance to use it, don't understand why on earth they discontinued it. Same as the HL850 planer, incredible tool and by far the best planer I've ever come across, hugely popular, lasts forever and just keeps on keeping on, but discontinued? Crazy!

I took my first sip of the green Kool-Aid on Saturday.  I purchased the MFK 700 EQ kit along with a 27mm tapered anti-static hose with bayonet fitting and airflow bypass.  I used it for the first time on Sunday putting some 1/8" round overs on a workbench I'm building.

I found the router easy to use and the hose was great.  However, initially I was not impressed with the router and hose combo.  Almost every time I set the router down the dang hose would come off of it.  It was super annoying.  I finally broke out some velco and attached the power cord to the hose to help stabilize it.  That did the trick and hose never came off again.

Two areas that I think Festool could improve on the use interface/experience is A) putting some type of indicator on the Plug-it cord to show the correct alignment for inserting, and B) imprint the collet size on the collet itself.
