What Festool Did You buy Today?

I got a chance to use the TID 18 yesterday. It is not as quiet as the M18 Surge, but much better then the older M18 impact that I used for years. (that thing was really load, to the point of embarrassment).
I did not appreciate how much a good trigger is a benefit. The TID is so predictable to use. The Surge is all or nothing. I realize now that I use the trigger on all my Milwaukee drivers and drills as an on and off switch only.
I kind of wish I had not experience this. Now I am wondering about getting a Festool hand drill.
Every Festool trigger I’ve had my hands on has been exceptional and I’m saying this as someone who likes my Milwaukee stuff both m12 and m18. I got rid of my regular m18 impact because it was so loud in comparison and the TID wasn’t letting me down. Have an m12 surge I keep on the bench and it’s great for the noise factor. Trigger is just okay. It’s a good one to let kids try out too, though. I think you’ll enjoy the TID and the other drills you’re about to pick up soon

As someone who enjoys pursuing collectibles, but is also pretty lazy with looking after tools overly carefully, that's quite the conundrum!
If you are really going to hold onto it, as a collectable, it really should stay in the box. That's not much fun.

I think I have said it before, but if it was available in the KP version, I would buy one, otherwise no.

Now that I've bought into the Festool battery platform, this morning I grabbed the TID/TPC 18 drill/impact set at 20% off this month, which also comes with a $100 voucher that will go towards the recipro saw most likely.

Haven't used them in anger yet, but first impressions is they're very nice and feel good and tight in use, and the impact's grip is just superb. The Makita's now feel a little agricultural and rickety in comparison, but they are very, very old.

I must admit though while I get they don't include a basic drill set like most manufacturers generally do, but not even an impact bit included was a bit surprising.

Last night, I saw a post on Marketplace for an ETS 125 EQ for $75. I decided not to go after it. But in the morning, I thought "what the heck?" and messaged him. A couple hours later, it's in my hands and I'm at Woodcraft buying the abrasives systainer set. - which is a nice deal for 20 of each grit plus the systainer for $125 versus the new Granat 125 Sample kit with ten of each abrasive (60 total) for $59.

The EQ was built January 2003 but considering its age, is in good condition. A little dusty and came with the detachable disposable bag and a box of extra bags (don't know if this was the OEM setup). If you look at the pic, the sanding pad is bright white and brand new - the hook and loop doesn't look used at all. Festool sells those for $50 - so I was spared from having to spend for a new pad on a 22 year old sander.

Plugged it in to the CT and everything looks to work fine. It did not come with a systainer but I've got an extra T-Loc here for a REQ that works. It doesn't happen a lot but every once in a while, you find a nice deal on Festool.

My last Festool purchase was on 11/11/23. Today, exactly 600 days later, I brought home...

Now order the edge sanding attachment. You'll use it and enjoy it.

I made that same move a few months ago and I have zero regrets at giving up the 12" Delta compound miter saw I had been using since the late 1980s in favor of the Kapex. I actually stopped using the miter saw in my shop for the most part...I have a sliding table saw...but with the Kapex now in the mix, there is a lot more utility with the accuracy I require with less setup.

The Kapex adds a few more items to my to-do list (miter station build, dedicated vac, etc) but it'll be well worth it in the long run. I'm looking forward to not having to undo whatever I've got going on the table saw and setting up a sled, just to square up an edge.

Also, crosscutting long boards has always been a challenge for me on the table saw as it required so much setup just to support the boards. Not very safe, either.

Anyway, very happy to put some of those challenges behind me.
