Just bought the new cordless drywall gun.  Finishing a basement and I don't want to spend all day feeding screws by hand.

woo hoo! so excited to get toying with this baby.
the box puts me in mind of an organ donor container.
first festool tool purchase, probably a planer and a router to come as upgrades, then a survey upon what new toys i want next...

Bought a csx drill last week. Not sure if it is ok or not, it won't drive a #8  3" self drilling deck screw in low gear into framing lumber. Lots of reviews of people sinking boxes of 3" Spax screws and even 6". Mine just cuts out. Fresh battery and all. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I seem to remember even the old Makita 9.6 volt drills being able to drive a 3" screw. The display/demo one at the store also cut out on a #12, 1 1/2" screw but I thought the display battery might be run down it was the 1.5 Ah or whatever they started with. Mine is the 2.6

Also waiting for my pro5 sander to show up. These are my first Festool buys.

The cxs is a beautiful little drill but a baby. I'm sorry you were misled into believing a cxs could drive large screws into anything. It was never intended to drive screws that an 18 volt was made for.

You didn't go wrong by getting that drill, I have one and love it. However, it's a drill I use for small screws used in cabinets in confined areas like drawer slides and hinges. That's why it comes with the angle attachments to help get into cramped places. It's also great for Kreg pocket screws with a nice pilot hole. You're likely in need a larger drill to accomplish the task you're facing or adjust your pilot hole.

Last week I was taking some shutters and window boxes off on the second floor of my house that I put up with 3" screws about 4 years ago (pine doesn't weather well). I grabbed the cxs with a hex bit loaded, ready to remove those in a flash. Up the ladder I went, put the drill in the screw and nothing.

I grabbed that drill as usual because I like the feel of it so much and the clip fits in my back pocket so I can use both hands climbing the ladder but it wimped out.

Just my opinion, but don't expect too much.

Looks like it was a battery issue. I just tried the other battery and drove the same 3" screw through a 2x4 and bored a 1" hole with a spade bit. Also had no problem sinking a 2 1/2 inch screw below the surface in second speed. Now it's acting like the drill I thought I bought. Very happy now and off to buy a systainer for bits and such.
Just have to determine if I have a bunk battery cause the charger had indicated that that one was done so I misread the indication on the tool thinking a green light was a good charge.

Finally pulled the trigger on a CMS VL unit. Man that box was huge! Can't wait to try it out, just had time to set it up. Waiting for the TS 75 module to come in the mail.

For those in Pittsburgh, PA, Allegheny Millwork had seven Pro 5 sanders in stock as of 2:30 pm Wednesday.  Get down there quick if you want one.

Just picked up a very old well used HL 850 E Festo planer. The motor runs so smooth with a powerful sound like a jet engine. Now there not much anything included bought at the home of the owner nearby, so it will soon be time to get a few add ons, I'm thinking the angle attachment, the rough scalloping head, the fine texture head, replacing the normal head. I'll also get the parallel guid and the rabbiting depth stop. Also the depth adjustment gearing seems a little stiff, so I'm considering replacing the cam, the front adjustable table looks a little worse for the wear, it's neoprene seal seems to have come out of it's seating, so I might just replace those parts. It's fully usable as it is now, but it's nice to see that it can be made to run smoothly and good as new.. The whole package including getting the spare parts and 2 or three of the heads will still be not as expensive as the full kit from new.

So I'm happy to get that one off my list. It's just the Domino XL then and the Beltsander CMS module left on my Festool List.. Though a RO 125 is getting ready to jump on the list..That is mostly an issue of having to buy abrasives for it that will delay that purchase..

My Pro 5 arrived today. I have a cool new sander and the cats are playing in a great new box.  [big grin]

First impressions:

• The edge guard looks like it will perform well and won't tend to pop off like the one with my RO 125.
• The locking hose connector is really cool, but I'm not sure I want to replace the all-purpose connector on my hose. I'm guessing this will become the new standard for dust extraction. We'll see.
• The blue and green Systainer is cool.
• I'm disappointed that pad changes aren't toolless, but it's no big deal.

Festool 571823 RO 90 DX Rotex Sander

To supplement my new/used HL 850 planer I bought all the following: New standard head, the rustic fine head, the parallel guide the depth guide, the angle Fence/guide and the Sys 3 systainer. I'll likely follow up with the bench mount unit if I can find one used or build my own.

I have sortainer/systainer stacks on sys carts. Like them so much that I'm setting up an additional stack consisting of an already owned Sortainer 4, a Sortainer Sys 4/sort 3, a Systainer 5 on the top with selfmade inserts racks for longer tools. and of course the Sys cart.

I bought an extra set of FS/2 connectors for guiderails to be used with the MFS, previously bought one set for the purpose but kan now see you need two for each side of the rectangle. I'b be able to make a 170cm by 20 or 40 or 60 cm MFS unit with the pieces I presently own, will probably end up getting additional MFS VB 700 and 1000 extension sets so I can go to two meters x 1100 for fabrication of doors or larger frames..
