What Festool Did You buy Today?

Any advice please on what not to do to get full use out of the expensive cutters

One piece of advice...don't hit screws.  [crying] (DAMHIKT!!) (Thankfully, I had a spare 5mm cutter that weekend)

And more importantly, you MUST use dust extraction with the tool and also plunge smoothly and slowly to insure you get the maxium life out of your cutters.

As one PA guy to another, separated by about 50 miles, I also know the dangers of hitting metal in a project. In my case I did not know that I had done so. I suddenly to d my dominoes were too tight, but not by much. After my project was done I decided to examine my cutter with magnifying head piece. It turned out the tiniest it of carbide was missing off the edge.

[member=66562]Jim_in_PA[/member] it doesn't even have to be a screw. I have taken the carbide tip right off the cutter with an 18ga staple.  [eek]

[member=83073]Emeryk79[/member] as has been stated, there is a bit of a learning curve. It's not steep, but it is there. The apparent simplicity bites most people, because they don't pay full attention to what is going on.
It is a simple tool, but there are several adjustments that you must acknowledge.....every time.
Awareness of the reference edge is one of the main things.

*use the vac every time
*plunge slowly
*reference edge/face
*depth of cut (don't cut through your parts)

Also, you will notice a difference in how the machine reacts when plunging into end grain versus the sides.

You're correct, Crazy'....any kind of metal can damage the cutter edges. But I will say, the aforementioned screw made the word "damage" an understatement! (And caused a lot of verbal self-abuse...)

Last month i got the domino 500 100years edition and the SYSLITE KBS C. today i ordered the powerhub.

I finally broke down and ordered from the Fan Shop. Got myself the 100 Jahre Mini Systainer, cotton socks, patch and the flannel. Actually, it was the flannel that finally did me in. Noticed it a couple of months ago on Festool Deutschland and am glad they brought it here. European fit, so it's about one size optimistic for Americans but really nice quality and attention to detail (like the green stitching on the buttons and green piping inside the collar). They even dropped in a 100 Jahre sticker. Nice!

Another thing I got the other day during my Pennsylvania excursion was this SYS-ROLL. The guy was selling a bunch of stuff but I really only wanted the circle cutter for the PS300. Be he was including the Trammel for the OF1010, as well as collection bags for the TS55 and KS60, and randomly: a surprisingly nice caulk gun - all for $30. Noticed he also was selling the SYS-ROLL for $100, asked if he'd take $80 and off I went!

In the pic are the RO150 and ETS 125 I mentioned in a previous post. The guy I got those from combined systainers but I wanted the originals. Also got the SYS3 M187 toolbox for $20, but the M337 Tanos Cooltainer I got from SysTim a few months ago. I actually like the M337 size better than the Festool M437 Cooltainer for daily use.

I recently bought my first festool items
CXS 12
domino 500
tid 18

I was having second thoughts about Domino-500, Knowing the patent ended last year, but still bought it. I guess it will take quite some time for someone to perfect it the way Festool has over the years.

I've been thinking about getting into the 18v side of things (I've got the TXS 2,6 and CSX12) and found this discontinued T18+3-E (576754) at a dealer for ten percent off the original price - meaning that it was priced at $269. I think the closest comparable drill set to get into 18v is the CXS/TXS18 HPC 4,0 I-Set for $499. Even the lowest priced Energy Set is $285.

The tool was made March 2020 and of course is new and under the full warranty.

I think I know the dealer you're talking about! I have bought from them before any they've been great, and that's a solid purchase on your part. Basically a free drill and two batteries.

They've had some good discontinued deals and I have been very appreciative!

I did go by my local dealer yesterday to see the new releases and picked up the Syslite KAL C. Nice little light though while it has a hook and 1/4-20 connector, I wish it also had a magnet. But a solid buy for $59.

And then I happened to go by today and there was a shipping box from Indiana with the packing list and I spied this 2 compartment M337 Sortainer - exactly the size I've been thinking of buying and took it home!

Sometimes you have to be thankful for the sillyness of other guys.

Found a listing for five SYS-AZ drawers unused and in their boxes for $100. Was able to contact the seller and went there straightaway to pick them up. Turns out her bf broke up with her, left the house and didn't come back to pick up his tools. Looks like she's pricing things to move.

Comes at a great time because I've gotten more T-loc Systainers and am planning a box to hold them. Now, I just need to learn this whole 32mm thing...

Ive been walking past this one for months going 'i dont need it'.... even at $260 off a new one ( because its in a t-loc)

But apparently i have to help a friend chase in a power circuit soon so perfect excuse to get it, plus its also cheaper to convert the DSG to an angle grinder than going the other way , $90 vs $355.

Scrolling through this page (104), I feel like I've been on a tear lately. Perhaps I have a sickness...

Anyway, decided to pull the trigger on 571823 - Rotex RO 90 DX REQ-Plus. Overall, it was in very good condition and it did come with the edge guard and an interface pad, but not the delta. So, I'll have to buy that. It had some MDF residue but cleaned up nicely. July 2019 build and was able to get it for $250.

I don't know what's going on, but in central Pennsylvania, it seems like a lot of people are selling used Festool.

And then my brother called to tell me to look out for a package. Turns out he and his family sent me a birthday gift - from the Festool Fan Shop. I started laughing when I saw the box. Happily, it was filled with items that I thought were cool but would never buy myself - like the TS60 Pizza Cutter. Gotta say: it's pretty awesome. Now, I just need to go and get some pizza!

That's a freaking steal! I just ordered two more 5 packs for a future build. The 32mm system is amazing once you figure it out.
