What Festool Did You buy Today?

@onocoffee Phewe, for a moment there I thought you were looking at the first model and was going to advise "noooooooooooooo!".

Not that the first model wasn't ground breaking when it was released over 40 years ago, but the new RO150 is just so exceptionally good it makes the older ones look a bit pedestrian.

I remember you talking about an old generation Rotex. I was under the impression that this was the first generation Rotex, but it’s the second?

I was also intrigued by the Vevor at one time because it looks to have the same design as this one.

But I agree, the current model is excellent.

The old one you're looking at is at least 2nd or 3rd gen, there was one after mine which I've heard called RO2E but I don't know if that's correct, but it had a green handle adjustment to change from orbital to gear driven. I can't see if your one has the green handle on the front body as the first pic I've attached?

My RO1E was a beast, lots of thick aluminium and the plastic head cover could be taken off for tight spaces, but it was needed in use as the body got so hot you couldn't touch it. The last pic is of the standard pad supplied additionally for adhesive backed sanding discs. I never used mine. Basically an angle grinder with a sanding pad.

It’s Festool. Kinda. Only got a couple things during the Systainer Store’s 12 Days Sale and they came today. Dressed them up with a Festool 100th T-Loc and SYS3 S Systainers.

Not really sure what I will do with them but I was thinking yesterday that I need a place to store the microfiber towels.

Good idea on the 100-anniversary locks. I got a couple from the recent Festool Live events (in-person demos relabeled as if Sedge was there...) I'll have to put them on my Sys-Sort-but-with-Minis-cuz-I-don't-recall-the-official-name. My CANADIAN lock will go on the other one. Elbows-up!

I should probably clarify a little. The issue wasn't that the chuck was coming out. I was using the 1/2" chuck and that remained secure. It was the T18 that was coming undone from the collar. I'll have to work with it more.

But I did print out those accessories from Printables. Have you used them yet?
@onocoffee I understand what you’re saying. But if you read the directions carefully you’ll see that it says you have to set it up in a certain way. Drill first while hold lower collar, then attach whatever chuck you’re going to use. It’s in the directions. I don’t know why it’s that way but it works.

I just snagged a Trion PS 300 EQ Plus. (Just copying the model number from the Recon site. I have a terrible time keeping track of the model numbers.)

I wanted one when I bought the Carvex, but they were not to be found. Given the griping about the Carvex, I am very interested to see how the Trion handles.

I typed in my info as fast as I could, and sure enough, after placing the order, Recon showed it as sold out.

Trion was actually the very first Festool product I bought. I don't use it a "lot" but it gets used when it's the right tool for the job. The barrel handle feels good to me.

@ReneS I used my friends Carvex D handle and while I liked the strobe, the dust nozzle kept popping off and the variable trigger just wouldn't trigger the saw to start reliably. Really solidified by decision to get the Trion barrel. Much better saw even without a light.

Technically not today, but bought an MFKC700 last week. One Festool-tool I never really imagined to have much use for, but we all know that's just a temporary reprieve :D

I've got a Bosch 12V router which I normally use for basic roundovers and chamfers, but the dust collection on that thing is non-existent so while the MFKC is bigger it does have some advantages over the Bosch :)

Only tried it a couple of times TBF, but my impression is the battery makes it a bit top-heavy. It's not bad at all, but I would think the corded version is better in this regard (only handled that one a couple of times though).

The MFKC is perfectly usable though, and as there was no real price difference I wanted that. I don't need the cordless model for normal use, but I'm sure I'll be in a situation at some point where the lack of a cord is a plus.

Pictures or it never happened
