What happened to the OF 1010?

I have a golden opportunity to catch up on my projects and decided to get the OF1010 plus the edging accessories that allow smooth horizontal trimming with a bearing bit.

"Available from June" on FestoolUSA.

Not too sure how it's different than mothership Festool, besides maybe NA 110/115VAC 60Hz.

I also have no idea what the difference of those two from the OF 1010 REQ-F-Plus (which some merchants still have, but at this point I'm reluctant to buy for FUD reasons).  Was there an issue with the old one?  Is that the really old model with the oval dust collection adapter instead of the 27/32?

Inquiring minds...

i remember a dealer in September mentioning to me that the difference between the OF1010 they had on 10% discount and the current model is that the current model has a light (?). She said that was the only difference.

The "old one" was only slightly different. Beyond the 27/32 round port, the base is more like the OF1400. The depth turret and stop rod were moved to the other side of the base, which makes more space for the collet wrench.
Otherwise, it is the same. The feel in hand, accessory attachment points, adjustable copy rings....etc.
Other than connecting the hose, most people wouldn't know the difference while using it.

Well, there's  different chip deflector/chip guards, a copier scanner vs fine adjustment vs angle arm...I'd like a little assurance the accessories that worked on the REQ-F-Plus will work on the REBQ-F-Plus LM (or whatever is coming down the pike).

What *is* coming down the pike in NA?

Sheesh...

You’re fine, the major difference from my point of view is that there is now a LED light available for the latest version

Ok, I think I figured it out...the 578495 OF1010 on the FestoolUSA website was a limited-edition package from June *2024* that (then) included the (right-now-separately-available) light module (578055).  Why they still have 578495 up on their website is a mystery.

As far as I can tell, there is no new OF1010 coming to NA in June 2025, and the 576922 OF1010 is an ongoing, current model.

I always download and keep copies of the current Festool catalog so I can refer to the part numbers. If ANY of the contents of the package change, then the part number also changes...that's the easiest way to track it.

As far as selling old product, every retailer approaches it differently. My local Woodcraft store immediately offers discontinued in-stock inventory at a 10%-30% discount. Other retailers try to sell discontinued merchandise for full retail until it's gone. When purchasing over the internet, following the part number is the easiest method to make sure you're purchasing what you want.

That light module is now available separately in the US. I just received one from Tool Nirvana this week.

I think the last big update was covered in Festool Live Episode 86, available on Youtube.  I can confirm that I just received my OF 1010 last week from Hartville Hardware.  It had all of these updates and came with the light module.  The part number is Festool 578495.

Good ON ya!  Hartville is where I was looking and specifically did NOT have 578495 in stock (I ordered 576922 today)...so you must've gotten one of the last ones in the country!!!

Meh...I used all my luck to snag my wife and two healthy daughters, lol--I am a truly lucky man!!

That's a great technique, right there.
